Almeria Cup New plots
The councillor for Municipal Services, Sacramento Sanchez, confirmed: “This is an action demanded by the residents of the neighbourhood.
“In addition to this action, Almeria City Council will continue to work on an expansion of this cemetery with the provision of the necessary land.”
The councillor added: “Susceptible to this disposition is land attached to the current cemetery. The land includes a plot of municipal ownership that has an area of about 7,700 m² and is currently classified as rustic land for agricultural protection and is pending authorisation.”
La Canada cemetery currently has 1,600 burial units of which, more than 100 of them are unoccupied.
300 Trees
HUERCAL-OVERA is planting a total of 200 trees in different areas of the municipality. The majority will be seen on the Via Verde where many residents who practise hiking and sports pass daily. An additional 100 trees will be planted in the forthcoming months.
Hopping mad
THE northern part of Almeria is reportedly being affected by a plague of rabbits that has put farmers on edge. The news hit the media through COAG who claim that “one million hectares (throughout the country) have suffered some damage.”
Fidelity to Spain
THE Rey Alfonso XIII II Brigade of the Legion will hold a Swearingin of the Flag for civilian personnel on June 25 in Adra. The objective is to show fidelity and loyalty to Spain. Any citizen over 18 in possession of Spanish nationality may participate.
New space
THE Agriculture Interpretation Centre ‘Molino del Lugar’ in Adra has reopened its doors. Visitors can now see the space which, after remodelling and modernisation works, has a total of four rooms full of information, technology and games.
Finance failure
A JUDGE in Almeria has sentenced a man to six months in prison after he used finance of €21,000 to buy a highend car but failed to pay the instalments. The court states the accused bought an Alfa Romeo in December 2015 in Huercal de Almeria.
Guitar glory
FROM June 9 to 13, Almeria will honour the mentor of the Spanish guitar, Antonio de Torres. The Guitar Museum, which bears his name, is the setting which is sure to bring together hundreds of Almerians and visitors.
ALMERIA City Council has solved a major problem that it has been working on since last year which would have compromised the train and bus service in the capital of Almeria.
There is little time left before the agreement with ADIF for the management of the intermodal station expires, although the solution, already approved, will cover the months of vacuum until the construction of the new station begins.
The plot of land on which the intermodal station was built is owned by Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias, which ceded it to the capital for a period of 30 years.
