Trees for children
THE Huercal-Overa Town Council is planning to commemorate World Environment Day (June 5), on Sunday, June 4, with the planting of trees that will bear the name of the children of the municipality born in 2022.
A plaque bearing the children’s names will be placed in front of each tree.
Parents who would like their child’s name to be one of those that are part of this plantation can either call in person to the Teatro Villa in Huercal-Overa or ring (+34) 950 616 738.
The requirements for participation are the child must have been born in 2022 and be registered in the municipality.
The registration period ends on Tuesday May 30.
This planting is in addition to those that were already carried out in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 in which more than 200 trees were planted in the Parque del Cal- vario and the surroundings of the Ermita de la Virgen del Rio.

According to the mayor, Domingo Fernandez: “The project is to instil the values of caring for the environment in children and by extension in their families.”
