Chemistry Olympiad Palm Grove

GUIDED Guided visits to the Palm Grove and Interpretation Centre of Orihuela have resumed and can be enjoyed during the month of June.

The visits must be made prior reservation through the web www.palmeraldeorihuela.com where you can select the day and time.

During the visits, the participants will explore the fauna and flora of the Palmeral and learn details of its history and contribution to the cul ­ ture of Orihuela. In addition, the Interpretation Centre will be visited, in which an interactive introduction of the visit is offered.

The Palmeral de Orihuela, recognized as an Asset of Cultural Interest and Picturesque Landscape, is made up of nearly 9,000 palm trees and is one of the most significant examples of the Arab footprint on the Iberian Peninsula and a window into the historical past of the city of Orihuela.

ÁLVARO MAIRLOT ÑÍGUEZ a student of IES Azud de Alfeitamí in Almoradi will represent Spain in the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO).

The IChO is an annual competition for the world’s most talented chemistry students at secondary school level.

Álvaro will travel to Zurich in Switzerland next July to represent Spain after achieving two extraordinary achievements, an Honourable Mention in the Physics Olympiad held in Lugo at the end of April and in the National Phase
