Quiz night Scoring promotion
TORREMOLINOS’ own, Alejandra Rochel, has successfully ascended to the toptier Primera División de Fútbol Sala Femenino (Women’s Futsal First Division) with Nueces de Ronda Atlético Torcal.
The 20yearold athlete, currently studying Law at the Universidad de Malaga, made the national elite team after playing a pivotal role for the Malaga team throughout the season, it was announced on Monday, June 5.
After finishing as champions of Group 3 with just two defeats all season, the Malaga team had the opportunity to secure promotion in a fast track match against O Castro in Lugo. However, they suffered a defeat in Galicia.
Undeterred, the players, led by Victor Quintero, triumphed over Almagro from Ciudad Real with a close 32 victory at home. Finally, this weekend, they secured promotion by defeating CD Chiloeches 41 in Guadalajara in the playoff final.
Atlético Torcal will once again become the leading women’s futsal team in Andalucia, achieving this feat for the second time in their history, which also coincides with the club’s 25th anniversary.
IN an incredible display of athleticism, Marbella has joined five other Spanish cities in hosting a national padel tournament.
The aptly named ‘Race to Marbella’ featured several matches last weekend, from Friday, June 9 until Sunday, June 11 at Club Nueva Alcántara. The grand finale in the contest is also set to be held in Marbella, later this year, from Friday, November 17 until Sunday, November 19.
The city has joined Barcelona, Sevilla, Madrid, Valencia, and Bilbao in hosting the national competition. The event is a national tournament on the amateur national circuit where athletes can rack up

SPORTS fans enjoyed a thrilling display of skill as the Fuengirola Cup beach handball tourna ment arrived in the town on Saturday, June 10, bringing more than 400 players from across the re gion with it. Proudly spon sored by Pinturas Andalucia, the event was held at El Castillo Beach from 9am until 9.30pm. A total of 28 teams from across Andalucia, including Sevilla, Utrera, Barbate, Malaga, and Algeciras, clashed in four different age categories at the event.
