Scissor threat
LOCAL POLICE in Elche arrested a 29 year old man for allegedly threatening a young man with scissors in the park area of Carrer la Villajoyosa on Wednesday, July 5.
Police were called to the area after reports of a disturbance. On arrival, the officers saw a large group of teenagers and one of them approached an officer to say he had just been threatened with a pair of scissors pointed at his neck. The alleged assailant also made ex tremely threatening remarks.

Medieval tower to reopen
ELCHE Council will reopen the Torre de Vaillo to visitors at the end of July, eight years after its closure.
“We will reopen the best viewpoint in Elche again, from which we can admire the beauty of our palm grove,” said mayor Pablo Ruz during a visit to the tower.
The tower, now a viewpoint, was built as part of a defence policy against the attacks of Berber pirates, which entailed the construction of several watchtowers in the Elche area in the 15th and carrying a carabiner chained to a ball in his other hand.

During a search of the man, they found the scissors and carabiner along with the ball.
He was released after police questioning and awaits a court date.
