Pedal day
Family mother Elizabeth Parker Gleeson who moved to Spain 24 years ago and is currently living in Mijas, rather than subject him to a further six months of chemotherapy in the UK (when he is currently cancer free), there is ground breaking treatment being developed in both the USA and Barcelona.
There is a possibility to send him to Barcelona in mid
September where a sixmonth course of immunotherapy treatment which recognises the return of cancer cells is possible, but there is a massive cost of £300,000.
The family are appealing for financial assistance and have set up a crowdfunding page, which has already raised £77,000 and knowing the compassion shown by the thousands of readers of Euro Weekly News in the past have reached out and asked that we publish details of their page which we are happy to do.

WITH cycling being such a popular sport and pastime on the Costa del Sol, the Estepona Council organised its 80th Pedal Day last weekend.
No less 113 cycling enthusiasts from the very young to the more mature took part and before starting the 4.2 kilometre ride, they all observed a oneminute silence in memory of Federico Martín Bahamontes, the first Spaniard to win the Tour de France who passed away the previous week.
A new Pedal Day is being planned to take place during September to commemorate the Year of the Bike and to encourage as many people as possible to get on their bikes and pedal. There will be a number of special events surrounding the ride as well as a selection of gifts for those taking part.
THE Mijas Council has decided to enforce a local bylaw concerning the wearing of appropriate clothing within the municipality.
This basically means that the Local Police have been instructed to stop anyone who is shirtless or wearing bathing costumes in any area except by the beaches or any other public area where such a state of undress is considered appropriate.
On the first occasion, officers will issue a warning to
Dress code
the persons involved but if there is a repeat, then fines may be issued.
Whilst many may applaud the decision, especially when one considers how inappropriate it may be in Mijas Pueblo, it seems coincidental that the enforcement has been announced just prior to the influx of visitors to the Festival Cala Mijas during a heatwave.
