Volunteers collected nine large bin liners of rubbish.

Eco heroes do it again By Ged Dalton PADI IDC Staff instructor A RECORD turnout of volunteers came to help clean up the beach and sea at the beach between Mojacar and Carboneras. They started the purge on pollution at 8.30am. The 24 eager eco warriors split into three groups, two teams of SCUBA divers from the Albox Diving Club searched for rubbish under the sea and one team of beachcombers on shore collected more rubbish and cleaned up this tranquil seaside beauty spot.

In total, nine large bin liners of rubbish were collected. All of it has been recorded as data and sent to the Project AWARE headquarters, to be analysed and added to data from thousands of groups who participated in this worldwide month of action. The data will help in combating and reversing sea and coastal pollution on a global scale. To find out more visit: www.projectaware.org or call Ged Dalton: 950 064 489.

There will be two stations in between, in Lorca (Murcia) and the Vera-Almanzora station in Almeria. Trains will be able to run at a maximum speed of 300kph. Currently, only one of the 13 sections into which the route has been divided in the province has not yet been assigned to a company for development. The rest are either in the stages of the project being written up, or have already started, and machinery can be seen at four sections, considered the • Turn to page 4
