I b e l i e v e that structures within a designed space not only manipulate emotion but each form relates to a dedicated function. As Alina Wheeler famously said, “design is intellienge made visible. I believe that good design is a result of experimental trial and error with observational human research.Sharing a strong interest in design solutions and creating spaces that bring out human emotions and behaviours.

The building becomes re-developed into a Horse racing memorabilia, live Auction house, where the proposed new use keeps the betting nature and excitement of the races. Drawing on the idea of horse power through captured speed of light, shadows are manipulated to form spaces, where the interior mimics shadow patterns, allowing this to sculpt spaces.

INTRODUCTION Embedded in the heart of Leeds city centre, is the Waterloo House which runs along Assembly street, just off of the main roads, of Call lane and New Market Street. Sitting in an urban context, this grade II building is set behind the widely recognized Corn Exchange. The lengthy structure carries with it a significant site history dating back to its initial construction in 1777, when it was then referred to as the Third White Cloth Hall. Once being a major centre for the trade of undyed cloth. However, development of the north-east viaduct in 1865 projected directly in line, through the site of the cloth hall. The structure as it sits today is the surviving north east wing, now known as the Waterloo House. Proposing the re-use and re-development of the building from its under utilized state, the design aims to convert the Waterloo House into a venue centred around Stop Motion animation and a film festival. Introducing the Leeds Animation Film Festival venue and headquarters, and pre and post stop motion production facilities. Dedicated to every stage in the stop motion animation film process, it will also include housed permanent and temporary exhibitions celebrating the evolution of stop motion animation films. The design proposes to provide a venue which becomes a network for community collaboration and celebration of the craftsmanship that is stop motion animated film. A site which becomes a cultural staple in the city which can be an inspirational and enjoyable outlet. The urban setting allows it to not only accommodate this new purpose but strive off of it. Near by transit links propose easy access, while being in the heart of the shopping and entertainment district, and walking distance from a once historically momentous film location, being the Leeds bridge. In October 1888, the Leeds Bridge, set the scene for the first ever motion picture to be filmed. Louis le Prince, a Frenchman working in Leeds, captured an astonishing fifteen seconds of footage, followed with horses, people, trams and traffic on the bridge. This would then go on to be known as the first motion picture, claiming Leeds as the birth place of motion pictures. Having this rich history in film, the LIFFLeeds International Film Festival has recognized the celebration of both local and international talent and is the front runner for film festivals outside of London. However, it is noted that animation, is the film type lease showcased at the LIFF. Yet, the basis of all motion pictures started from the simple concept of frame by frame shots, also known as stop motion animation. Giving more recognition to this film genre of stop frame animation would create a more dynamic and meaningful connection to the cities historical film roots. Creating this newly proposed use, aims at the reinvigoration and expansion of the stop motion animation film industry in the city. This expansion would go on to benefit the film community of producers, editors, and stop motion film personnel, as well as near by education institutions. The venue would go onto spread the celebration of film in Leeds, with a dedication to stop motion, hence introducing a new dynamic operation within the Waterloo House.
