Why Choose A River Cruise? One of the hardest things about picking a cruise holiday is trying to decide where to actually go. The exotic and tropical nature of the Caribbean or the mysticism of Asia or maybe even the natural beauty that comes with the Norwegian Fjords or some of the river cruises than can take you through the Danube and beyond. It is this last point that we wish to explore in more detail; why should you choose a river cruise? When you present the notion of a cruise holiday most people will instantly think of sailing on the open sea to some far off and unusual location however the river cruise business is just as, if not more, popular and thousand go on these types of cruises every year. The reasons for choosing a river cruise are plentiful and we shall go into some of them here in this article. For instance, if you like your holidays to be quite personal and tailored then a river cruise might just be the thing for you. Cruises that go around the world tend to have larger ships because they are travelling in the ocean; however a cruise that travels down a river such as the Danube or the Seine will not have such a large vessel and therefore will not be able to take as many passengers. So this means that you get a much more personal experience in terms of attention and feel of the holiday than you would on other cruises. Furthermore, a cruise that sets sail to far off locations will likely have a few days on the open sea with nothing much to look at. This isn’t usually that much of a problem as cruise ships are packed full of things to do however a river cruise means that you will always have something to look at on board the ship; whether this is the stunning natural beauty of the forests or countryside or the hustle and bustle of the city as you sail past. A river cruise also benefits from all the amenities that larger cruise ship’s do. Even know you will never be stuck for things to do (as excursions are abundant) the ship itself will be full of bars and restaurants that offer entertainment at night not to mention the likes of gyms and sauna’s as well. All of this as well as the many stopping off points and attractions can only mean that a river cruise has to be tried at least once.
