A native of Evansville, Kim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Purdue University and holds her CPA license, as well as the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designation. hen we formed Farmer Scott Ozete Robinson & Schmitt LLP, one of the things that set us apart was the fact there were as many women at the table as men. While the news highlights the lack of women in business leadership roles, that isn’t true at our firm. Half of our attorneys are women. Our firm chairman and COO are women. We are proud to be women in business and proud to be legal professionals serving our community. Laura Scott has served as president of the EBA and has been very involved in its diversity committee. She serves on the Southwestern Indiana Chamber of Commerce Board and the Women’s Fund Grants Committee. Lindsay Schmitt has provided leadership in bar association agriculture and estate planning sections. She serves on the United Way of Posey County Board and Jacob’s Village Board. Beth Burger serves on the Evansville Estate and Financial Planning Council Board. Her community service includes the Vanderburgh Community Foundation and the Riley Children’s Foundation. Jamie Dameron, a lawyer and licensed professional geologist, is active in state-wide environmental organizations. We are proud to be attorneys advocating for businesses and the families who own them. or Lindsay Locasto, head of the Downtown Henderson Partnership, and Henderson Tourist Commission Chief Abby Dixon, collaboration is key to fostering a forward-thinking, thriving scene in Henderson and Henderson County. With shared office space in The Depot Welcome Center on the Henderson riverfront, both organizations are focused on the economic vitality of Henderson — one by creating unique experiences to draw crowds to Henderson’s vibrant downtown, and one by focusing on attracting visitors to spend time and dollars throughout Henderson County. The office space has quickly transformed into a high-energy think tank of idea sharing and teamwork. From adding a can-do spirit to the day-to-day to guiding Henderson’s long-term vision on the mayor’s Vision Action Committee and Downtown Master Plan group, Locasto and Dixon work tirelessly to energize the community about the progress and potential in store for Henderson’s future. The duo’s collaborative nature, not only with each other but with local government, businesses, and organizations, is leaving its mark on the Tri-State. Dixon and Locasto are a prime example: the spirit of progress through collaboration is alive and well in Henderson! 28 August/September | 2019

tatistically, women account for just 15% of executive roles in the financial industry. Not at First Bank. These four superstars have more than earned their spots in a traditionally male-dominated industry. With 107 years of combined banking experience, these leading women of First Bank know business banking. From their commitment to service and relationships to their understanding of business operations, they truly are the epitome of First Bank’s core values — honesty, integrity, and humility. Many of our women-owned business clients prefer to work alongside Nikki, Donna, Christy, and Beth as they are able to provide a unique level of understanding. This especially holds true for Nikki and Beth as both of their families are multi-generation business owners. Combine that with Donna’s expertise in agriculture to help local farmers thrive, along with Christy’s ability to bring businesses together as recent president and member of the Rotary Club of Evansville, and this team is a force to be reckoned with. Our founders built First Bank in 1893 with a mission to provide strong financial futures for businesses and families. Today, we are a community bank, and every day these leading women live our mantra — Making Great Things Happen. 30 August/September | 2019

hile the healthcare workforce in the U.S. is predominantly female, healthcare executive leadership is predominantly male. ECHO Community Health Care, Incorporated, however, does not follow this national trend when it comes to their leadership. ECHO’s “C-Suite” is comprised of four females. The roles of CEO, COO, CFO, and CCO are staffed with women who all found their way to leadership in health care by starting on the “front lines.” Their diverse backgrounds and experiences have certainly been a positive factor and have contributed to the successful growth of ECHO. With the focus always on the patient, health care at ECHO is made affordable, accessible, and appropriate thanks, in large part, to the leadership of these women! It is ECHO’s mission to provide quality health care to all members of our community, and their advocacy and voice for the underserved has been resounding and effective.

JEANNIE

BROWNING HESTER In the early 1980s, Jeannie Browning Hester and her father Charles H. Browning were a father-daughter team known throughout the state in the funeral service profession. However, when Jeannie first entered the field, there were very few opportunities for women. Not to be deterred, she took advantage of her position and created a niche for women, encouraging and mentoring those who were interested in the career. Soon, leaders in the profession were turning to Jeannie for advice and female enrollment grew to 80% in funeral colleges across the country. Jeannie is a leader, setting the precedent for a woman’s role in the funeral service on a national level.
