personal statement I am a driven, dedicated, and persistent individual who flourishes in both a group and individual environment. My experience covers a range of national and international projects from small scale to regional scale that deal with preliminary studies of focus areas, recommended program, and design strategies with environmental impact sensitivities. I am interested in combining the various elements of urban design, urban planning, architecture, and interior design to attain a fluid indoor-outdoor well balanced design which enhances and positively shapes people’s lives.

to make the automobile an alternative mode of transportation. This would be a walkable residential and retail mixed use district with everyday amenities, entertainment, and regionally significant retail. The proposed building typology will resist structural obsolesce by anticipating future urban market trends. Using best management practices and green technologies will promote environmental health within and around Allens’ Crossing.

Manhattan 2111 | Flood Mitigation New York’s proposed flood mitigation strategy consists of three interventions that respond to climate destabilization. The first strategy, water condition, implements tetrapods, piers,
and vegetation platforms as breakwater objects and ecosystem supports. The vegetation platforms have been inspired by the Break Water Towers: Wet/Dry Ecosystems as proposed by MoMa’s On the Water/Palisade Bay. The second strategy deals with the city edge as a medium connecting the city with the natural systems. A

second level pedestrian system, sloped terrain, and the hard/ soft scape embankments provide barriers at different levels as the water level rises. This strategy will revitalize the water front condition ecologically and socially. The third strategy deals with the inner city conditions. It proposes different hierarchical green
infrastructures to collect and release rain water such as green roof, green facade, soil canal with integrated bioswales and improved existing green space. By providing the soil canal, there is also an opportunity to make streets more walkable through limiting vehicle flow and proposing an underground bypass tunnel. One or a combination of these strategies could be used adjacent to the severe flooding zones but it is not limited to it spatially. Due to the visual appeal the strategies can be used throughout the island.

Ann Arbor Library Plaza The Library Lot in Ann Arbor Michigan is a newly developed area. An underground parking lot has reduced the amount of surface parking allowing an area of 2.5 acres for development. There has been speculation on what should be developed on the lot. After talking to residents in the area we concluded that there is a strong sense of

Group Project The proposed Sweetwater site plan incorporates a mixed-use development for senior citizens and aging populations in varying stages of their life cycle—those who live alone or with their partner and desire to be close to friends, and others who need assistance in their daily activities. All residents can access the retail on the site through a network of pedestrian

paths and roads. The retail and office buildings are located on State Street, which is continuing a pattern of intense use along the corridor. The businesses and programs in these structures are meant to attract users from surrounding areas in order to make them viable. The Sweetwater site has a system of paths throughout the development that are meant to serve both residents and the site’s visitors. By continuing the existing bike paths, a greater number of users could utilize the site and its amenities, while enhancing

the site’s connectivity to other areas. Personally responsible for: site plan (drafting it on CAD after discussing its layout), rendering the site plan on Adobe Photoshop, rendering the perspectives, and illustrating the water runoff of the developed site.
In the Sweetwater site is essential to properly address water runoff and preparation for high rain events. The recommendation for the site is to implement low impact development techniques. These techniques promote capturing water runoff thereby reducing the buildup of toxins and sediment in the local and regional watersheds. The primary techniques recommended are rain
gardens, rain channels, bio swales, and pervious asphalt.

Vehicle Circulation Patterns User 1: Visitor -Those who drive to the site will most likely be employees working in the offices or individuals coming for the restaurant, retail, and commercial services. -The paths around the wetlands will offer a pleasant environment for exercise and recreation.
User Circulation Patterns User 2: Sweetwater Resident -Paths along the inner courtyards provide the opportunity for spontaneous interaction with neighbors on sidewalks and front porches. -Residents must be able to access the community center from the paths for the events and facilities available.

Study of Malagueira Social Housing Malagueira Social Housing is located in the outskirts of Evora, Portugal. The purpose of this project is to
analyze, research, and visually communicate the existing condition of an urban design project. The development is located 2 km west of Évora and it is designed by à lvaro Siza Vieira. The dwellings are clustered low-rise, row house, and 2-4 BR courtyard houses. There are 1200 dwellings in the development and it was built between 1977 and 1998. The dwellings start at one floor and then progress to two or three. The exterior finish is plaster, concrete, with wood windows. The development contains some street parking, commercial services and open communal spaces. Illustrative plan points out the transportation route and aqueduct.
