LAZY OAF DAZED BEAUTY FASHION EAST CRACK THE FACE


LAZY OAF


HISTORY/ EARLY YEARS -The brand was created by Gemma Sheild in 2001 -She started it in her dads garage after university -Lazy Oaf was originally a menswear brand. -Gemma started to sell cartoon screen printed t-shirts at Spitalfeilds market and the brand started growing from there.

TODAY -The brand is 18 years old. -Lazy Oaf is stocked in 250 stores worldwide. -Lazy well known among creatives and has bee -Gemma is still director working with a close team.

PLACE OR POSITION -I would be happy to do any sort of assisting job with the company, on a photoshoot or helping with their events -In the future I can see myself being freelance creative director for the brand.

WHO TO APPROACH -Jerry who is in charge of PR because we have had previous positive contact


DAZED BEAUTY


HISTORY -Dazed and confused was founded in 1991. -Since then it has branched off into different areas. Dazed digital ect -Dazed Beauty was launched a couple of months ago at the beginning of 2019 as an innovative new platform. -The Editor is Bunny Kenney -The creative director is Isamaya Ffrench -Brand new platform

TODAY

-Dazed beauty has just launched its first issue -Is regularly posting articles under the umbrella of beauty online. -interesting and relevant contributors and articles that haven’t really been put together before and it works.

DIFFUSION -The magazine is sold online and in creative bookshops in London -at one with the digital age.

PLACE OR POSITION For now I would be happy with any job which enables me to assist Dazed Beauty. Probably something to do with the social media In the future I would love to work there permanently scouting stories and articles from online sources.


FASHION EAST


HISTORY -Established in 2000 by the Old Truman Brewery -Each season they offer 3 womens wear and 3 menswear designers the opportunity to present a collection and help them through the early stage of their career

TODAY -Fashion East is the leading support scheme, guiding and nurturing new designers -They provide designers with guidance and money to help them through tough parts of their careers -Lulu Kennedy is the director. -A team of 3 people

CURRENT STRUCTURE -1 head office at the Old Truman Brewery ADDITIONAL WORK

-They set up 3 fashion week shows every season. -Lulu kennedy is heavily involved with designers careers



SHARED VALUES -I like the fact that Fashion East helps young designers, this fits in with my values of kindness. -Integrity, Lulu Kennedy has consistently picked designers I love and that represent catwalk fashion for me. -I know they would treat their intern with respect because its a very small team.

PLACE OR POSITION -The only position that would be possible for me would be an interning position which I can apply for before fashion week

HISTORY -The magazine was first created in a bedroom in Bristol by Jake Applebee and Thomas Frost -It was self published on newspaper -distributed by staff -founded in 2009 -friends creating a magazine together -A magazine which infuses guitar music with pop, dj culture and other music.

TODAY -Has just reached its 100th issue -Is still a free magazine -Is still Bristol based -Can be ordered online -Is stocked all over europe

ADDITIONAL WORK -An online shop which sells prints -Involvement with festivals and music events

SHARED VALUES -Creativity and Passion for the production and the style of their magazine -Diversity, the magazine boasts a diverse range of music -Integrity, the magazine has stayed free and has carried on being produced in Bristol

HISTORY -Originally a British culture monthly magazine started in May 1980 by Nick Logan. -Its last issue was in 1999. -It was said the face “changed culture”. -The face covered subjects like music, fashion, politics.

TODAY -The Face has been relaunched online in 2019 and is in its early stages -The first issue is yet to be published but is in the works -I’m obsessed with the idea of curating culture - the director -There is a group of ‘faces’ that will be contributors to the new magazine. -Some of these people include, Mowalola, Olivia Rose, Wavey Garms and Tori West

SHARED VALUES -Sense of humour, the articles can be amusing. -Creativity and Integrity, the contributors are really interesting and diverse. -Growth, I am excited to see the new magazine grow

WHO TO APPROACH -Rhiannon Isobel from Wavey Garms -Yuki Haze from sukeban -They are both are contributors, yet to produce any work for the face.
