Kettering’s own Jamie Docherty enjoys a magical life. Jamie is a member of the world's most prestigious magic society, The Magic Circle and is also a member of Equity, the Actors Union. Jamie started in magic at a very early age when receiving a magic set for Christmas. He practised all of the tricks in the set, and an aspiring magician was born! Moving on from the magic sets, Jamie practised a small series of tricks and performed at family parties and get together, which he thoroughly enjoyed doing. Jamie has now been performing magic at a professional level for a number of years and is humbled to have performed in some amazing places, to many great people! Jamie has found a real love for the magical art and continues to amaze people up and down the country to this very day. During Jamie's award winning close -up magic act, he will wander around the tables (and other groups of guests) and perform magic which happens right in front of your guests eyes or even in their own hands! Jamie's style of magic is modern and comical, meaning that your guests will be truly entertained. Your guests get to keep impossible souvenirs which will have been magically created right in front of their eyes. This is one of the many reasons why you're event will be the talk of the town, even long after the experience! Jamie's close-up magic is great for weddings, parties, restaurants and much more! Jamie's award winning stage act comprisescomedy, magic and psychological illusion. This means that Jamie will demonstrate his abilities

to implant thoughts into people's heads, read people's minds and subliminally control your audience as a whole! Jamie can do all of this and more during his stage act. The act involves lots of audience participation meaning that the audience will have the opportunity to take part in the show, as well as watch and be amazed! Jamie can tailor his show to suit your needs so it can be any length of time, and for corporate events, incorporate company products and messages. Jamie's stage act is great for theatres, variety shows, open days and corporate events. Jamie will be performing locally at The Carpenters Arms Irchester on Saturday September 24th. Live Music is what drives Jewly, a French singer who released her second album “Bang Bang Bang” IN November 2014. Her inspirations come mainly from Blues and Rock, this latest album is a real rock album, true to her style. HERVE KOSTER is the producer of this album. A French drummer, who’s worked with artists like Trust, Cock Robin, Yannick Noah, Louis Bertignac, Johnny Hallyday. The phenomenal RAPH SCHULER on drums and outstanding guitarist GUIDO TOMASETTO are the most faithful members of the Band. Jewly also managed to onboard French pianist MICHAËL LECOQ and famous British bass player PHIL SPALDING, who’s worked with Mick Jagger, Seal, Elton John, Robbie Williams, Randy Crawford and Michel Polnareff.

The album has been mixed by STEVEN FORWARD, the British sound engineer, who’s worked his magic with great artists such as Ray Charles & Dee Dee Bridgewater, Depeche Mode, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Chris Rea, Jimmy Page, Axel Bauer and Johnny Hallyday. The album was recorded at the Studios de la Seine in Paris, mixed at the Studio Human, les Frigos in Paris and mastered at The Exchange by MIKE MARSH in London. A great team! The album “Bang Bang Bang” was created during JEWLY’s many tours, in France, on the road in Corsica & the Reunion Island, but also in Germany,Switzerland. The bulk of the album, however, was inspired by JEWLY’s tour in Canada and the United States. Jewly has also done the opening act for well-known artists Scorpions, Ten Years After, Ana Popovic, Yannick Noah, Florent Pagny, Rover and Axelle Red.

Photograph Jacques Pierrot

JEWLY’s album works for multi-generational and multicultural audiences. Her songs come from her deepest soul, every moment is highly intense when she’s on stage, she is a true Live Rock singer. Her powerful voice with that clear touch of blues will reel you into her world, which is filled with emotion… an unforgettable moment! Jewly is appearing at The Hind Hotel on Friday 2nd September and The King Billy Northampton on Sunday 4th September. Admission to both gigs is £5.

The Carnabys explain why they feel musicians need to speak up for venues: Over the last few years we have noticed that a number of venues that cater for live music have had issues with local authorities in regards of noise complaints from ‘new’ neighbours. In two cases we know personally of venues that had to close as a direct result of this. Unfortunately councils have no option but to react to these complaints and I have even had first hand accounts where the officers have said their hands are tied by the legislation, though they had every

If we don’t start to wake up to the slow, insidious shutting down of these grassroots nurturing grounds we will lose such an important part of our cultural richness. We know that we cannot do this on our own, but being part of Music Venue Trust’s efforts gives us confidence that we will not only stop the rot, but turn it completely around.”

Bar Club being an obvious one. We will never be able to play The Cockpit, The Marquee, Madam JoJos, Arches and neither will any band coming up behind us. We believe that music is such a huge and important part of what makes Britain great; people all around the world pay attention to British bands. Can you imagine not having ever had David Bowie or the Beatles, nor now having Ed Sheehan, Adele, The Rolling Stones, Muse?!! – all different, but all British and all started out in the venues and clubs we play in now.

sympathy with the owners and management who were just trying to run a business that had been successful up to this point for many years. Along with increasing duty and price rises of alcohol, the smoking ban (whether you are for or against is irrelevant in this case) the spaces where live music can perform have taken a severe bashing over the last few years. In fact recent research shows that 35% of live venues have closed in London since 2001, we are confident this is a reflection on the state of play nationwide. South London band The Carnabys explain what they are doing to try and help save the live music scene.

“We have been touring for a relatively short time and we were shocked that even since we started, several iconic venues that we have played have gone for ever – The 12

In tandem with becoming official patrons of Music Venue Trust, The Carnabys have put their album ‘Too Much Never Enough’ up for pre-sale 4-months in advance of its release in August and will donate all their earnings to the Trust. As a band who rely heavily on the live circuit as their core vehicle for reaching new audiences, the five piece from South London felt compelled to be proactive in demonstrating their support. In association with Music Venue Trust, The Carnabys have launched their own ‘Save Live Music‘ campaign to raise awareness of the challenges faced by small venues.
