EVER ACTIVE SCHOOLS SESSIONS AT TEACHERS’ CONVENTION
PHYSICAL LITERACY SUMMIT
ONGOING WORKSHOPS AND SESSIONS
DAILY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY (DPA) ON A SHOESTRING BUDGET
The buck stops here! With only seven per cent of boys and girls meeting the required 60 minutes of physical activity per day and limited time and space for movement, we have to be creative in our delivery of physical activity. In this workshop, participants will be exposed to activities using inexpensive materials to implement daily physical activities with maximum results. Be prepared to have some fun and walk away with ideas to put into action right away.
HOSTING HEALTHY SPORTING EVENTS
Healthy eating and school sport should be a pair like Sonny and Cher! So, why are tournaments still serving unhealthy foods? This session is for coaches, athletic directors, teachers and anyone else with a vested interest in school sport. You do everything in your power to improve the performance of your athletes; you host early morning training sessions, weekend practices and run endless drills—so why stop there? Let’s create food environments that support the health and performance of our athletes and student body. Participants will discuss the importance of healthy food at sporting events, take a tour of some resources to help makeover their next tournament and learn about a new policy from Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association to support a healthy school environment.
OPENING YOUR DOORS TO COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
When it comes to creating a healthy school community, both schools and community organizations have resources, assets and expertise to bring to the table. However, navigating these partnerships can be challenging. Where do you start? How do you build a trusting relationship? Explore these questions and others while learning how to make partnerships work for you and your school.

STAFF WELLNESS...STOP, PAUSE AND REFLECT
Amidst the rapid changes taking place in education, personal wellness is one constant that we must prioritize. In this session, we will stop, pause and reflect to focus on wellness from within. Participants will explore the impact that adults have in role modeling and walking the talk of a healthy, active lifestyle, and how it impacts the whole school community.
