WELCOME TO THE EVERGREEN All roads and trains lead to the Evergreen Cultural Centre... this is turning out to be the hottest place in town! We are so excited to be kicking off our 21st season. After a stellar 2016-2017 season, staff at the Evergreen are lining things up for another terrific year of entertaining shows and programs. Attend a performance, visit the Art Gallery, participate in a visual or performing arts program, and/or be in a show yourself -- the Evergreen is the Arts Centre for everyone, and for everyone to enjoy. With that in mind, we have reduced ticket prices on two of our major series: Music, and the new Variety Series (comedy, dance and magic). Also, we are offering new Sampler Packs for these series. Pick a selection of your favorites, and save up to 30% off the single ticket price! And that’s not all - purchase single tickets at full price to any shows in the Music and Variety series, and receive an e-gift to join us later in the season. We love to hear what you think, so send us a note and tell us what you liked or would like to see. The Evergreen Cultural Centre is looking forward to another year of interesting possibilities and welcome surprises! See you at the Centre,

Jon-Paul Walden Executive Director

EVERGREEN SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS

CANADA 150: THE SHOW

Join us for a special youth engagement project September 28th - October 1, 2017

During a routine space mission, Astronaut Chris Hadfield accidentally sends a group of students from the past 150 years into the future. Watch what happens when these students meet youth from the present, and try to return to the past by travelling back through Canada’s history.

WELCOME TO OUR 21ST SEASON As we kick off our 21st season, Evergreen has never been a busier place; the whole facility buzzes all year long. Frankly, we are having too much fun! And we want to share it with more of you. Our audience has made the Theatre presentations the cornerstone of our performing arts season. Every year we include a broad selection of styles of theatre, and this season is no exception. The Theatre Series includes the Arts Club’s huge hits Mom’s the Word 3 and Onegin; and even Stephen King’s Misery. The rest of the series features End of the Rainbow, a musical comedy-drama about Judy Garland; Memories of a Christmas Ornament, a lovely intimate holiday musical; and Almost, Maine, which brings together a small town, love, and the northern lights in a magical play. And the Indie Series will surprise and entertain with four of the most compelling stage actors around, each performing their own exciting original works. We are also continuing to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday. This September, we follow up last year’s original musical theatre extravaganza COQUITLAM RISES! with the aptly titled CANADA 150: The Show. This youth engagement project performed by dozens of local performers includes time travel, Canadian innovation and even astronaut Chris Hadfield (well, an actor playing Chris Hadfield!) Ontario’s MOTUS O Dance presents their One Hit Wonders: pieces created specifically for Canadian celebrations throughout the years. And we are stretching the celebration into 2018 with Swingin’ with Oscar, a tribute to Canadian jazz great Oscar Peterson by Quebec’s Remi Bolduc Jazz Ensemble. So, let’s start sharing the fun! Join us for the Evergreen Season Celebration September 15, with 40’s/50’s/60’s show band Dock Side Drive.

FROM ACE PRODUCTIONS There are moments in the theatre, when you lean forward in your seat with shivers down your spine, and realize there is nowhere on earth you’d rather be! End of The Rainbow is a true account of the twilight of an all too mortal goddess on the eve of her destruction and is revealing in a way seldom found in the tabloids. Every chapter of Judy Garland’s history is alive; she is foul mouthed, flirtatious, erotic, childlike, unedited, manipulative and supremely self-conscious as she makes love and war with her keepers.

October 24-29, 2017

8pm + 3pm Saturday/Sunday BY THE MOM’S THE WORD COLLECTIVE From the world-renowned creative team behind the Mom’s the Word series comes a new chapter in their stories of family and fracas. Their kids are grown, their marriages have “evolved,” and their bodies are backfiring. Life doesn’t get any prettier, but it never strays far from ludicrous or poignant as the moms continue to mine their personal history for every embarrassing detail. Filled with insights, secrets, and ribald humour, this brand-new show from the moms you love is both hysterical and deeply touching.

December 12-16, 2017 8pm + 3pm Saturday

ROONEY & PUNYI PRODUCTIONS A precious family heirloom comes to life to bring us back in time to the moment she was purchased from a store window as an engagement gift for a young man’s “fiancée-to-be”. When the proposal answer is “yes” the ornament becomes cherished and never misses a Christmas. She jumps in time from one Christmas to the next, sharing the lives of a loving couple through their many ups and downs and joys. Please note that there will be no intermission for this production.

THEATRE SERIES - ONEGIN MAR 6 - 10/11

March 6-10, 2018 8pm + 3pm Saturday

BY AMIEL GLADSTONE AND VEDA HILLE

BASED ON THE POEM BY PUSHKIN AND THE OPERA BY TCHAIKOVSKY Life is quiet on the Larin family’s Russian country estate–until the charismatic Evgeni Onegin ignites the romantic longings of its residents. Poet Vladimir Lensky dances with jealousy when his dear friend flirts with his fiancée, and even the reclusive Tatyana Larin finds herself falling for the handsome rogue. But will Onegin embrace real love or simply skim its surface? Through Gladstone and Hille’s original, dynamic score, audiences are swept into a musical experience as immersive as love itself.

THEATRE SERIES - ALMOST, MAINE MAY 8 - 12

May 8-12, 2018

8pm + 3pm Saturday FROM THE NORTHERN LIGHTS COLLECTIVE IN ASSOCIATION WITH PACIFIC THEATRE One cold, clear Friday night in the middle of winter, while the northern lights hover in the sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded. And life for the people of Almost, Maine will never be the same. It’s love. But not quite...

November 16-18, 2017 8pm + 3pm Saturday BY LUCAS MYERS A young man goes missing from a provincial campground while on a personal journey to discover himself. Four people are suspects, despite lack of evidence aside from Facebook posts and the video from the young man’s cell phone but the overzealous detective is undeterred. Was there foul play? More importantly, did someone remember to bring the toilet paper (and the potato salad)? Featuring original songs, found video and Lucas Myers’ unique brand of observational humor and brilliant character work, CAMPGROUND is a hilarious theatrical experience not to be missed!
