Music is a way for God to lead us to the realm of higher things. As St. Augustine says, “Singing is for the one who loves.” Music is therefore a sign of God’s love for us & of our love for him…[it ]expresses so well the sacramental presence of God to his people.” As a Catholic educational institution, we are called to “foster the joy of singing & making music, to cultivate the repertoire of sacred music inherited from the past, to engage the creative efforts of contemporary composers & the diverse repertoires of various cultures, & to celebrate the Sacred Liturgy worthily”. (Sing to the Lord, #1-2, 54) The UIW Music Ministry strives to enliven the word of God through sung & danced prayer, & is comprised of the following ministries:

Counseling services are available to you, the students of the University of the Incarnate Word on an appointment basis. The ever challenging demands of growth, change, and the expanding horizons of learning are at times stressful, and often require an adjustment of attitudes and coping skills. Two full-time professional counselors and doctoral interns are present on a daily basis to assist you. Personal counseling, couple issues, addiction, stress management and anxiety reduction are among the topics they can address. Referral sources are also available.
