Malcantone / Malcantone Region

La regione del Malcantone si estende sulla sponda sudoccidentale del Lago di Lugano, tra colline di fitta vegetazione costellate di grotti e osterie tipiche. La regione è suddivisa in tre zone: basso, medio e alto Malcantone. Il basso Malcantone è caratterizzato dalla vicinanza al lago, dai lidi e i campeggi, oltre che per le sue infrastrutture. Molte le attività sportive che si possono praticare nella zona tra tennis, canottaggio, vela, pesca e golf. Il medio Malcantone, a media quota lungo il pendio, accoglie molte ville, spesso costruite nel tipico stile ticinese, che godono di una fantastica vista lago. L’alto Malcantone invece, capeggiato dalla magnifica vetta del Monte Lema, è la meta ideale per gli amanti delle escursioni, sia a piedi che in mountain bike. Grazie alla rete FLP (Ferrovie Lugano Ponte Tresa), il Malcantone è ben collegato con un treno che ogni 15 minuti permette di raggiungere la città di Lugano in solo 25 minuti. Terra di antichissimi castagneti, sui suoi sentieri nasconde tesori artistici e culturali come vecchie miniere, botteghe del fabbro, mulini, rovine di castelli e molto altro ancora. Il Malcantone è una regione di grande fascino, dove si respira un’atmosfera rilassata.

Malcantone extends along the southwestern shore of Lake Lugano, among hills with dense vegetation. Many grotti and typical taverns are settled here. The region is divided into three zones: Lower, Middle, and Upper Malcantone. Lower Malcantone is characterized by its proximity to the lake, its beach clubs and campsites, as well as by its infrastructure. In this area there are numerous sports facilities, including tennis, rowing, sailing, fishing, and golf. On the middle altitude, situated on the hillside, there are numerous villasoften in a typical Ticino style, with a fantastic view of the lake. The upper Malcantone, on the other hand, with the splendid peak of Monte Lema at its top, is a paradise for those who love hiking, either by foot or by mountain bike. Thanks to the FLP (Ferrovie Lugano Ponte Tresa) railway service, Malcantone is well connected with a train that runs every 15 minutes, making it possible to reach the city of Lugano in only 25 minutes. The land of ancient chestnut groves hides along its paths artistic and cultural treasures such as ancient mines, forges, mills, castle ruins and much more. Located in the southernmost corner of Switzerland, the Mendrisiotto Region extends up to the Italian border.
