Thursday November 24, 2011-Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, NYC I know for me at least, watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has become a tradition. Every year since I can remember, I would wake up to watch the floats and the larger than life balloons make their way up 5th avenue in New York City. The colors and the characters were mesmerizing and thoroughly entertaining both then and now. Whether you are watching the sidewalk in the Big Apple or from your own TV Sets, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a continuing tradition that is quite sacred and entertaining for all ages. Wednesday November 30, 2011-Lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, NYC When one thinks of Christmas, what is the first thing that comes to mind? No, it is not the food (since the impeding doom that is fruitcake is practically here), and no it is not the presents either (Well for children it probably is), but for most people, the true sign of Christmas is the tree. The one true Christmas object that everything else revolves around. Christmas is not complete without this one pivotal piece. This is why the lighting of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center on November 30 is so special and important. People from all around the world come to see the tree lit up for the first time. The lighting of the tree truly symbolizes the beginning of the holiday season and the beginning stages of the new year. The lighting is truly a tradition, and not something to be missed! (unless you hate crowds or are claustrophobic, is which case you should watch it from the comfort of your own home on you television.
