Towering above the skyline at 190 feet
Some of our more daring staff members from the New Children’s Hospital (NCH) project took part in The Smithfield Tower Drop at the end of April to raise much needed funds for The Ronald McDonald House Charities Ireland.
Towering above the skyline at 190 feet, this iconic Irish landmark was the launching point which saw Amy Coyle, Adam Hyland, Brandon Kelly, Brian McGrath, Ciara Smith, Dermot O’Shea, Eoin Glennane and Killian Marmion abseil into Smithfield Square. There was a great party atmosphere to welcome them on their descent back to ground.
The NCH staff raised close to €3,500 with Jones Engineering matching this amount. The event itself raised nearly €100,000.
Ronald McDonald House Charities is the NCH’s charity of the year and is situated in the grounds of Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin, Dublin.
It helps families of seriously ill children undergoing medical treatment at CHI by providing a home-away-from-home so they can stay close to their hospitalised child at very little cost.
When completed, the NCH will be the centre for the care and treatment of critically ill children from all over Ireland. There are also plans for a new 52-bedroomed Ronald McDonald House facility in the heart of the new hospital campus to provide even more services for these families.
At Jones Engineering we are committed to playing an active role within our communities and strive to make a difference by supporting charities through company and employee efforts such as this one.
Well done to all who took part in Smithfield on the day.
