Animal vision differs significantly from human vision yet the idea of concealing ourselves from the human eye has dominated the hunting camouflage market internationally. That is until now. Veil disrupts the visual recognition process of the animal being hunted rather than simulating the environment. Desolve® camouflage patterns are designed to deceive animal vision not human vision despite Desolve® Camouflages ability to blend in exceedingly well. Hooved animal vision is similar to red/green colour blindness in some men which is why Desolve® Fire™ complies with the invisible nature of all the Desolve® patterns. PANORAMIC OBSCURITY INVISIBLE FROM ABOVE

Desolve® Wing™ has been designed to disrupt the specific and complex vision of waterfowl making you invisible through deception. Birds possess one more receptor than humans allowing them to see UV light, through this they identify each other, food sources and predators. With panoramic vision and zero binocular vision they see accurately up to three times the distance we can with acute movement detection and very little depth or contrast. A bird’s eye view is very different to ours, camouflage patterns designed to mimic the horizontal picture we see of reeds and grasses look foreign to a bird flying high above. The Desolve® Wing™ pattern disrupts the bird’s vision of you and exploits the inability of waterfowl to fill in the blanks in what they see. When we see one object in front of another our brain fills in the blanks making the object behind visible to us. Birds cannot do this so the tones and contrast of the Desolve® Wing™ pattern keeps you completely out of the picture.

Broad and Narrow range patterns do not work exclusively of each other, like anything that works effectively it relies on interaction. Narrow range patterns integrate with the wide range patterns, layers and contrast to actively break you up in an animal’s vision across a broad range of engagement distances. Micro patterns create noise (not the audible kind) and confuses animal vision. This image of the Leopard whilst visible to the human eye is a micro pattern that makes them an indistinguishable shape to their prey. The incorrect balance between macro and micro patterns will cause your silhouette to appear as one mass making you obvious to your prey.

MICRO PATTERN Broad range camouflage patterns are present in the animal kingdom and are an essential element in effective concealment at a distance. Distance without contrast creates a solid that is more easily seen as one solid shape. At Desolve® we have created an active balance between broad and narrow range patterns achieving vision depth, contrast and colour tone making your shape undetectable to your prey with a limitless engagement range. Engagement distances are not predetermined so a camouflage that actively confuses an animal’s vision across a limitless range rewrites the rules of engagement and clearly hands you the advantage you are looking for. The multiple layers and patterns in Desolve® Veil, Bare™, Fire™ and Wing™ exploit the weakness in animal vision. Their vision is made up of rods and cones like ours but the absence of one set of cones changes everything and necessitates a camouflage that is not based on our perceptions of blending in but actively providing deception that confuses animal vision.

HUMAN VISION Ungulate Vision (Hooved Animals) Ungulates have panoramaic vision however they only have a small window of binocular vision directly in front of them. The rest of their visual field is 2D and seen as flat masses of colour. Their vision is slightly blurrier than ours, impairing their ability to see explicit detail. They cannot see tones in the red colour spectrum, viewing the world in shades of yellow, blue and grey. They also have an enhanced ability to see Ultraviolet light, which is heightened at dawn and dusk.

Investigation into the science of animal vision has changed the way we approach concealment, revealing there is so much more to creating a successful camouflage than using natureâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s images and colours. There are some excellent mimicry camouflages available utilising tree trunks, branches, leaves, reedy blades and bark, but steer clear of those that lack contrast because

at ranges of 25m or more they can morph into one solid colour highlighting the human silhouette. Above is a diagram illustrating how the DesolveÂŽ high contrast patterns break up your silhouette, as opposed to a low contrast pattern which turns you into a solid and highly visible object.

THE PERFORMANCE LAYERING GUIDE SYSTEM Wide compatibility As we are unable to control the elements, we have developed a clothing layering system that will enable you to stay comfortable all year round. All Hunters Element clothing is designed to be worn in any configuration, giving you maximum flexibility and unlimited options for all hunting situations.

LAYER 1: PRIME Layer The essential layer for all Hunters Element gear. This prime layer is used for moisture control. QUALITIES: comfortable next to skin, dries fast, warm in winter/cool in summer, wicks moisture away from your skin, high breathability, low odour.

LAYER 2: Furnace Layer

Being a crisp cold morning you set out on your day hunt with all your layers on.

As your hunt progresses your body temperature increases so you take off your jacket.

The day has warmed up as you’re climbing a hill so you remove a upper Furnace layer and open your pit zips to dump heat.

With the sun on your face and the last of the hard grind ahead, your prime base layer keeps you comfortable to push on.

Your lunch break gets cut short as the day clouds over and the heavens open up. On goes the Barrier layer to stay dry.

The end of the day draws near and the temperature drops rapidly. A Furnace layer is added to keep warm.

This performance layer must not restrict moisture transfer from your Prime Layer to the atmosphere. You can add more than one layer here to adjust your body temperature to the desired level. Furnace products are suitable to be worn with or without a Barrier Layer, depending on the conditions and use. Furnace products are semi fitted so they will layer comfortably. Alex has been pig, deer, duck and pheasant hunting since the ripe age of 17, and tries to get out into the bush as often as possible. Alex is also our product designer at Hunters Element, testing the gear plays a key part in its functionality.

Andrew was raised with a rod in one hand, and a .22 rifle in the other. Taught by his Dad to hunt from a very young age, the lifestyle has now become an addiction. Andrew is a regular blogger and a valued member of the Pro Team.

James has been hunting since he was knee high to a grasshopper. He utilises his spare time chasing deer, chamois and tahr around the South Island. He now focuses his hunting on collecting trophies, whether it be horns, antlers or photographs.

Willis is based in Greymouth and spends a lot of his spare time hunting red deer, chamois and tahr mainly in the mountains of the West Coast on the South Island.

The Hunters Element Pro Team represents a group of skilled hunting fanatics, who have a passion for hunting and Hunters Element gear alike. They are dedicated to their craft and enjoy nothing more than bragging about their latest endeavours on our Pro Team page. At Hunters Element we saw the need to utilise our biggest fans by getting them to test and review our gear. We will not release any of our gear to the public before it has been vigorously tested, so who better to test it than real hunters, using the gear for its intended purpose. The Pro Team rug up in our Hunters Element clothing, walk miles in our boots, load our packs to the brim and hunt for days in the dense New Zealand bush and the harsh Australian Outback.

They thrash the gear till the cows come home, to ensure it will last and fulfil its purpose to the highest standard. They then review the performance and provide us with feedback to take into consideration before we release the product to the world. This testing is a crucial part of our design and production process, if there are any discrepancies or areas that could be improved, we re-group, re-design and re-produce to ensure the product exceeds its functional purpose with ease. The Pro Team are a key cog in the machine that is Hunters Element, they stand behind our gear and practise the craft Hunters Element stands for.

It was his father that got him interested in hunting, although not shooting a deer until he was in his 20â&#x20AC;&#x2122;s the passion of hunting consumed him and has now spanned almost two decades.

Michael, a keen outdoors man, started hunting under the guidance of his grandfather at the age of 11 which fired a life long passion for hunting and the outdoors.

Beau grew up in the Aussie bush and ocean, he has a big passion for outdoors activites such as hunting, fishing, sailing, camping - you name it!

Christie was brought up in a hunting and outdoors loving family. She was introduced to bow hunting in 2007, and while she is still passionate about all outdoor activities, bow hunting quickly became her sport of choice.
