EXPLOIT THE WEAKNESSES OF ANIMAL VISION Desolve® Concealment has taken scientific research and learnings from apex predators to develop camouflage patterns that give hunters the best chance of success. Research has proven that the vision of Deer and other hooved animals (ungulates) is quite different to human vision – they simply don’t see things the way we do. They have an amazing 280 degree field of view (which is much wider than the human’s 120 degree field) allowing the animal to scan the horizon for

predators. Their weaknesses are impaired visual acuity and dichromatic color vision. Tigers and Leopards have been using their own evolutionarily perfect camo for millennia – allowing them to successfully hunt various hooved animals including elk, deer, gazelle, impala and wildebeest. They are the ultimate predators hunting in a variety of climates with various fauna. Sticks and leaves is not an option.

Tigers and leopards are apex predators that hunt in varied terrain yet their camouflage is not at all like the mimicry sticks and leaves camouflage that many human hunters wear. Instead they use a combination of micro patterns to effectively fade into the background when at close range and macro patterns to break up the shape of their body as they move. COLOUR & CONTRAST Evolution has ensured the big cats are at the top of their apex – color and contrast has a lot to do with that. The base color of the pelt is one that ungulates struggle to discern while the high contrast black stripes and spots add depth to the camouflage, suggesting shadows and distance.

The Barrier Layer provides protection from wind, rain and snow while allowing layers below to function. QUALITIES: Windproof, waterproof, breathable, durable, quick drying, packable, DWR treated.

LAYER 2: Furnace Layer (mid)

The Furnace Layer provides insulation and continued moisture transfer. QUALITIES: Warm, breathable, quick drying, high loft, low odour, durable.

LAYER 1: PRIME Layer (BASE) The Prime Layer provides moisture control through wicking and body temperature maintenance. QUALITIES: Comfortable next to skin, dries fast, warm in winter/cool in summer, wicks moisture away from your skin, breathable, low odour.

Being a crisp cold morning you set out on your day hunt with all your layers on.

As your hunt progresses your body temperature increases so you take off your jacket.

The day has warmed up as you’re climbing a hill so you remove a upper Furnace layer and open your pit zips to dump heat.

With the sun on your face and the last of the hard grind ahead, your prime base layer keeps you comfortable to push on.

Your lunch break gets cut short as the day clouds over and the heavens open up. On goes the Barrier layer to stay dry.

The end of the day draws near and the temperature drops rapidly. A Furnace layer is added to keep warm.

You can add more than one layer here to adjust your body temperature to the desired level. Furnace layers can be worn with or without a Barrier layer, depending on the conditions, use and personal preference. Furnace garments are semi fitted so they will layer comfortably. As this layer is often used without another layer on top it is important to have good sized, strategically located zipped pockets.
