Performance Layering SYSTEM Wide compatibility As we are unable to control the elements, we have developed a clothing layering system that will enable you to stay comfortable all year round. All Hunters Element clothing is designed to be worn in any configuration, giving you maximum flexibility and unlimited options for all hunting situations. We call this â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;System Wideâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; Compatibility.

LAYER 3: Barrier Layer This outer layer is used for wind and rain control. QUALITIES: windproof, waterproof, quick drying, packable, DWR treated to minimise fabric saturation.

LAYER 2: Furnace Layer This mid layer is used for warmth management. QUALITIES: warm, high breathability, quick drying, high loft, low odour, durable.

LAYER 1: PRIME Layer This mid layer is used for moisture control. QUALITIES: comfortable next to skin, dries fast, warm in winter/cool in summer, wicks moisture away from your skin, high breathability, low odour.

Being a crisp cold morning you set out on your day hunt with all your layers on.

As your hunt progresses your body temperature increases so you take off your jacket.

The day has warmed up as you’re climbing a hill so you remove a Furnace layer and open your pit zips to dump heat.

With the sun on your face and the last of the hard grind ahead, your prime base layer keeps you comfortable to push on.

Your lunch break gets cut short as the day clouds over and the heavens open up. On goes the Barrier layer to stay dry.

The end of the day draws near and the temperature drops rapidly. A Furnace layer is added to keep warm.

Back at camp you remove your wet layers and put on dry warm clothes.

About 6 months ago I purchased a Hunters Element XTR Extreme Hunter anorak, principally for use in the Cascade Valley south of Haast. The design of the jacket particularly appealed to me. The long front zip made getting the jacket on and off much easier than with other similar anoraks of other brands. The large pockets, hood design, and cuff closure system are all exceptionally practical and innovative. The anorak is light and compact to pack. During the spring my anorak got a ‘workout’ that not many would be subjected to. I had just 5 fine days for the month of October, the busiest month for calving. I was out daily, regularly in pouring, wind-driven rain. Walking through bush tracks between river flats, head down in the rain I had quite a few encounters with bush lawyer. To date on not one occasion has my anorak leaked and the resistance to abrasion from lawyer etc in the bush is as good as any brand of similar anorak that I have used. An added bonus is that the outer fabric of the Hunters Element XTR Extreme Hunter anorak is lighter when wet and dries quicker than any other similar garment that I have encountered.

The Pro Team Story. The Hunters Element Pro Team represents a group of skilled hunting fanatics, who have a passion for hunting and Hunters Element gear alike. At Hunters Element we saw the need to utilise our biggest fans by getting them to test and review our gear. We will not release any of our gear to the public before it has been vigourously tested, so who better to test it than real hunters, using the gear for its intended purpose. The Pro Team rug up in our Hunters Element clothing, walk miles in our boots, pack our packs to the brim and hunt for days in the dense New Zealand bush and the harsh Australian Outback. 38

They then review the performance and provide us with feedback to take into consideration before we release the product to the world. This testing is a crucial part of our design and production process, if there are any discrepancies or areas that could be improved, we re-group, re-design and re-produce to ensure the product exceeds its functional purpose with ease. The Pro Team are a key cog in the machine that is Hunters Element, good sorts who stand behind our gear and practise the craft Hunters Element stands for.

James Morris (NZ) James has been hunting since he was knee high to a grasshopper. He utilises his spare time chasing deer, Chamois and Tahr around the South Island. He now focuses his hunting on collecting trophies, whether it be horns, antlers or photographs.

Andrew Sturt (NZ) Andrew was raised with a rod in one hand, and a .22 rifle in the other. Taught by his Dad to hunt from a very young age, the lifestyle has now become an addiction. Andrew is a regular blogger and a valued member of the Pro Team.

Alex Broad (NZ) Alex has been pig, deer, duck and pheasant hunting since the ripe age of 17, and tries to get out into the bush as often as possible. Alex is also our product designer at Hunters Element, testing the gear plays a key part in its functionality.

Lachlan Cooke (AUS) Lachlan grew up on a farm in North Queensland, and has a keen interest in bow hunting in Australia. He enjoys living off the land when he hunts, taking the bare essentials and relying on his haul for food. Lachlan stands by Hunters Element gear and is a valued member of our team.

Michael Gibson (AUS) Better known as ‘Gibbo’, has been hunting since he was 11, and now has a deep passion for deer hunting. ‘Gibbo’ has been lucky enough to have taken all Australian deer species minus hog deer. He seeks enjoyment from challenging hunts with his photography and videos playing a major part in every one of his hunts, and has recently developed a strong addiction to the NZ Mountains, and the game that dwells within them.
