Dear Friend,

Contents

While trying to figure out how to overcome a particular obstacle, I told the counselor, “I keep trying to think my way through it, but I can’t.” “Exactly,” he said. “Because your thinking is the problem.” This simple statement has helped me to overcome fears and manifest desires. Now when faced with a fear I remind myself that it’s just a thought. Just a thought. Then I change my mind (thought) to a more beneficial one. Whether it’s fears and phobias, money problems, health obstacles, or matters of the heart, how and what we think about the subject will determine how we feel about the event—and lead to a particular outcome. Like attracts like. Feelings are manifestations of thoughts. Thoughts create feelings which create reality. I’m sure you’ve heard the same thing said numerous different ways. This applies to money matters, as well, and this month the articles focus on Conscious Wealth. Lysa Allman Baldwin relates how to tap into and live in awareness of abundance and joy every day; Regan Hillyer explains that you are not poor, but your thoughts and actions may be; and, Aneta Baranek teaches us how to acquire conscious wealth by creating our ideal selves. We’ve rounded up some additional resources you may want to pursue after reading the articles in this month’s Evolving Magazine:  EFT Tapping: You Are Abundance. Marguerita Vorobioff says, “When you realize this truth and fully embrace this belief system, anything is possible and you will have all the wealth, abundance, money, and freedom your heart desires. Join Marguerita and tap along with this EFT Tapping Video to help install this Universal Truth so you can achieve all your goals and dreams. Watch the video at http://consciouswealthinstitute.com/category/conscious-wealth-2/  The Abundance Loop: 8 Steps to Manifest Conscious Wealth by Juliana Park www.amazon.com/Abundance-LoopManifest-Conscious-Wealth/dp/1401943748  Read an interview in Conscious Lifestyle Magazine with Seth Streeter, who says, “Conscious Wealth is when we step beyond that definition and look at our lives much more holistically and factor in different components, such as our health, our relationships, our career satisfaction, the amount of impact we’re having in the community and in the world, to our intellectual growth, to our spiritual capital, to our emotional wellbeing. These broader definitions are what I’m really calling Conscious Wealth.” Read the interview at www.consciouslifestylemag.com/conscious-wealthpurpose-prosperity

Journey to Wholeness

How Do I Love You? BY JUDE LACLAIRE, PH.D.

T

his time of year, as spring turns into summer, love and relationships seem to jump to the forefront of our attention. June and September weddings still rank number one in popularity. Starting relationships may be much easier than continuing them—maturing lovingly and healthily for the long journey of life. In his book, The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, Dr. Gottman gives us some wonderful and practical ways to ‘grow’ relationships healthily. A study relates that one of the major causes of marital dissatisfaction and divorce is the birth of the first child. Sixty-seven percent of couples had a large drop in marital satisfaction after becoming parents. Thirty-three percent did not see a change. In fact, over half of these couples reported improvements. The difference between the two groups was what Dr. Gottman calls ‘love maps.’ The couples that didn’t have a drop in satisfaction, or grew, were the ones with love maps from the beginning. What is a love map? It is the detailed information that each person stores about the beloved. It is growing intimate familiarity with each other’s history, preferences, fears, passions, dreams and many other aspects of daily life. You begin to get the picture of what a love map is. The statements in the 1st Love Map questionnaire and the 60 questions in the Love Map 20 Questions Game include dreams, hopes, aspirations, fears, joys, memories, relationships, daily likes and dislikes, feelings about oneself and others and many more. It covers the depth and

The “Love Map” questionnaires are found in his book, and in a fifty-two question deck. These products and others can be found on his website: www.gottman.com. Here are some examples of questions for the couple to answer with a true or false:  

 

 

 

I can name my partner’s best friends. I can tell you some of my partner’s life dreams. I can tell you the most stressful thing that happened to my partner as a child. Periodically, I ask my partner about his or her world right now. In another questionnaire he plays “20 questions.” Name my two closest friends. Describe in detail what I did today, or yesterday. What is my favorite flower? What is one of my greatest fears or disaster scenarios? What turns me on sexually? What is my favorite meal?

breadth of relationships. Gottman gives us tools that are helpful in beginning and for developing a healthy relationship. I am often surprised by couples who come to counseling after five, 10, or 20 years of a relationship and still do not have a very good idea about who their partner really is. The person who knows what their partner likes to eat, how he/she likes coffee or tea, what TV programs he/she prefers, how he/she feels about his/her job is on the road to drawing a great love map. We chart our love maps with intimate time together and sharing on a regular basis. When I see couples in distress, what I see most often is that they spend little to no time together without children, other people, TVs, phones, or computers. The first prescription is to ask them to find a daily time, even if it is five minutes, to begin sharing and developing a love map for each other. Hopefully, this can grow over time.

Tired of Being Sick and Tired? SHINE protocol for fibromyalgia BY NANCY RUSSELL, M.D.

D

o you suffer from tiredness, aching all over and exhaustion? Do you have nonrestful or interrupted sleep? Do you have decreased mental clarity, decreased sex drive and get more than your fair share of infections? If you answered yes to all of these questions, you may have a condition known as fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia can cause a baffling array of symptoms and is frequently misdiagnosed or even dismissed by physicians. Fibromyalgia is a neuromuscular and sleep disorder that cannot be diagnosed with any specific blood test or laboratory testing. New testing is in the research phase and may be available in the new few years. It is now diagnosed by criteria set forth by the American College of Rheumatology: 1. Widespread pain or achiness, steady or intermittent, for at least 3 months, on both sides of the body and upper and lower body and 2. At least 11 of 18 spots on the body known as tender points. 3. No other medical cause is found for the symptoms. Other associated problems can be: irritable bowel syndrome, low sex drive, insomia, nausea, memory problems, headaches, depression, nervousness, hair loss, numbness/ tingling, post-exertion malaise and chronic sinus, bladder, gut or prostate infections. In my experience with diagnosing and treating people with fibromyalgia, I have had success in helping them get better using a researched protocol by Jacob Teitelbaum, M.D. A good resource for someone with fibromyalgia is Dr. Teitelbaum’s book, From Fatigued to Fantastic, 3rd edition. He

discusses one of the theories why fibromyalgia may occur: hypothalamus dysfunction in the brain. Some known triggers for this to happen are: a major stressful event or a series of stressful events such as a viral infection, automobile accident, pregnancy, recurrent infections, death of a loved one, and toxic or chemical exposures. S is for sleep. The program to getting better is initiated with the S-H-I-N-E protocol. This 5 step protocol begins with Sleep! Getting a restful, uninterrupted 79 hours of sleep is the foundation of getting well. A combination of natural and prescription sleep aids may be necessary to achieve this goal. If this sleep goal is not met, and particularly if high blood pressure is also present, an overnight sleep study with a sleep specialist is a must to rule out sleep apnea. Brain neurotransmitters and/or adrenal hormone testing may get to the root of the sleep problem.

When treated with many rounds of antibiotics, this can lead to other infections like yeast or candida or bacterial overgrowth. Appropriate treatment is based on laboratory testing.

Conscious Wealth How to tap into and live in awareness of abundance and joy every day

T

he word “prosperity” most often brings to mind tangible, financial prosperity—the in and out flow of money. But true prosperity is a state of mind and higher level of consciousness touching every area of our lives: finances, career, health, relationships, and spiritual awareness/growth. According to internationally recognized author and meditation teacher davidji , although money is one symbol of material wealth, abundance consciousness is more about circulation and flow. “True abundance consciousness is opening our mind, heart and soul so wide so that EVERY aspect of our existence … flow into us without conditions. … When we allow the world to ripple into us with open arms and then let it flow out of us with grace and generosity, in that moment we are a pure conduit, a channel, a medium for whatever we desire. And it is in that sweet act of giving AND receiving that we fulfill our purpose, our needs, our desires, and the universe’s intentions.” As wonderful and heart opening as that sounds, let’s be honest: it’s a tall order to fulfill. We do, after all, see evidence of lack and limitation—what some call “Scarcity Consciousness”— everywhere. And it may sound a little Pollyanna-ish, like once we flip “a switch” we step into life’s current and easily ride the waves. Scarcity Consciousness can show up as thoughts like: “I’m not good (or smart, pretty, tall, thin, educated, young/old) enough.” “I can’t afford it.” “There’s not enough time.” “I don’t deserve it.” And even the happiest, richest and most successful-looking people can sometimes succumb to this error thinking. We create our life experiences through thoughts, words and actions. Therefore, we have the power to change focus from lamenting what is missing (scarcity), to celebrating the abundance of what we do have. That is “Conscious Wealth.”

Change your Wealth Operating System Our “Wealth Operating System” is the mechanism through which we filter our life experiences, and the place to start cultivating any new practice or habit. One practice I adopted years ago was examining the words I used about financial wants and needs. So instead of saying, “I can’t afford to buy that concert ticket (or dinner out, new bestselling book, pair of shoes, or whatever) I would rephrase it as, “My spiritual investment funds are allocated elsewhere.” The truth is, I could afford that concert ticket, dinner out, new bestselling book, or pair of shoes. But I chose instead, on that occasion, to “spiritually invest” in myself and my family in other ways, like paying the mortgage, buying groceries, or tithing at church. It’s all about shifting your thought process and mindset. Your career and creative selfexpression are other areas to practice Conscious Wealth. Say you want to start a new business but feel like you don’t have enough time or money to accomplish it. What if you looked at things you’d start or stop doing if the business was already up and running? You might decrease hours at your current job. Or invite your kids into “the family business” by helping with graphics or social media (they are whizzes at technology!). Finding an entrepreneur support group in your field could also be beneficial. Any of these steps help you focus on what you can do, instead of what you can’t. Observing your emotions can also help improve your Wealth Operating System. Sure, feeling tired, overwhelmed, uncertain, and so on at times is normal. To counterbalance these, create a list of emotions you would rather experience. Do you want to feel Authentic? Free? Peaceful? Productive? Vibrant? Present? Blissful? It’s up to you. Choose words that capture the essence of who you are, or how you want to show up in the world. Read them aloud several times a day. With practice, living in an abundant flow will become

increasingly effortless and second nature. Cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude According to author, speaker, and prominent figure in the New Age movement Deepak Chopra in his article Cultivate the Healing Power of Gratitude, those consciously focusing on gratitude experience greater emotional wellbeing and physical health than those who do not. The benefits include less stress, feeling stronger during trying times, optimism about the future, enjoying closer family ties, and making greater progress toward achieving important personal goals, among others. “If you want more happiness, joy, and energy, gratitude is clearly a crucial quality to cultivate,” writes Chopra. “It is a fullness of heart that moves us from limitation and fear to expansion and love. When we’re appreciating something, our ego moves out of the way and we connect with our soul. Gratitude brings our attention into the present, which is the only place where miracles can unfold. The deeper our appreciation, the more we see with the eyes of the soul and the more our life flows in harmony with the creative power of the universe.” A gratitude list is a powerful and effective way to appreciate the big and little things in life, despite the circumstances. Here’s a quick example. A couple of years ago, I had a bike accident. While lying on the ground in intense pain, I realized the best thing I could do at that moment was make a Gratitude List. So, I started saying out loud: I’m on the sidewalk; not in the street. It’s daytime and not at night. There are people coming to get me who know what they’re doing. I have health insurance. The hospital is only two miles away. And most importantly, for me, God is here.

Here are a few other simple ways to cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude:

EVOLVINGMAGAZINE.COM

 

Create a journal and note every wonderful thing that comes your way. Things like an unexpected refund, praise from your boss, or when someone treats you to lunch. Take a walk during inclement weather and acknowledge the positive benefits to follow, e.g. verdant flowers and trees after the rain, or replenished reservoirs from melted snow. Clean out your personal spaces—car, desk, closets, etc. —and donate what you no longer want or need to help someone else. Make every day a “special occasion” in some way. Serve dinner on your fine china. Send flowers even if it’s not someone’s birthday or a holiday. Play “Secret Santa” without expecting an acknowledgment. Give yourself props! Repeat affirmations like: “I’m proud of myself!” “I did a great job today.” “Who I am matters in this world.” An Attitude of Gratitude is not about living in denial or looking at the world through rose-colored glasses. Rather knowing that even in the appearance of chaos—a job loss, divorce, loved one passing away, or bad bike accident—there is still greater good taking place.

Go with the Flow! Instead of rowing upstream against life, Conscious Wealth opens the channels of Divine flow in all directions. And that flow is available anytime and anywhere. So, claim it now! Lysa Allman-Baldwin is an engaging, personable, sought-after motivational speaker, writer, workshop facilitator, and the author of the new book, I Cried. And People Loved Me Anyway. Through the written and spoken word, she helps people create lives full of passion, authenticity and purpose. Learn more about Lysa at AuthenticityAndPurpose.com.

You Are Not Poor...Your Thoughts and Actions Are BY REGAN HILLYER

N

o matter where you come from or what your current income or family background, you absolutely can have it all. The world is full of opportunities for those seeking complete abundance. However, I don't want to talk to you about the highest paying jobs or hacks to making money as an entrepreneur. Today, I want to talk about the one underlying quality shared by those who make it in life: their win mindset.

Use these tools daily. Discipline is key, and the way you approach something as little as sticking to daily habits trains your character.

To Achieve Abundance, Start by Looking Within Although attracting abundance is a relatively simple process, it requires work, practice and dedication to your vision. First, remember that abundance is your natural state. Abundance is completely within you, and external abundance in your any area of your life—personal, financial, spiritual—is just a reflection of whether you can feel it from within. Surrender to the work, dig in and get super clear on your vision. Until you can recognize the abundance in yourself, you won’t be able to call it in externally. Clear your thoughts of your self“Until you can recognize the abundance in yourself, limiting beliefs—all the old, deeply you won’t be able to call it in externally.” ingrained, self-sabotaging habits, thoughts, and actions that keep you small and leave you unable to relaxed, in control and happy. How do you feel about money? It’s a tricky topic and one that makes a lot of people uncomfortable. Don’t ignore your money. It’s not enough to simply say, “I want more money in my life.” Know how much money you want, accurately, down to the last cent. Track your income, know daily where your money is coming from and focus on the BIG picture. Visualize your income goal, then double it, and then triple it. Do this daily, alongside your other intentional practices. Living your Life with Intention Think about the highest version of yourself—this confident, abundance-attracting individual— and see how that person would show up, how they would look, act, walk and talk. Hold that energy from your vision with intention as the highest version of yourself, and banish those limiting, poor thoughts. It’s practice, practice, practice every day. Nobody gets it perfectly from the outset. Give abundance a chance to show up in your life. Why would you settle for average and small when you can be extraordinary? The above article is based on the newly published book, The Abundance Codes by Regan Hillyer and Juan Pablo Barahona.

The True Purpose of Alchemy—Acquiring Conscious Wealth by Creating the Ideal You B A B Y

O

ur Western culture teaches us to seek wealth in our physical manifestations. In fact, the popularity of the Law of Attraction has gained momentum because many have been taught that we have the power to create enough of whatever we desire and therefore address all our physical wants and needs. However, what got lost in translation is the metaphysical secret that we do not attract what we want, but who we are. Consequently, our physical reality always reflects to us the current state of our inner being. This is often very difficult for us to face, it is especially challenging for our egos. There are powerful emotions that come up when we are confronted with realizing that on some level it us that deprive ourselves of sufficient love, money or health. This recognition often leads to us numbing ourselves from the associated pain, it leaves us stuck in denial or awakens old programs of guilt and shame. Many, if they are not overcome by the denial or numbing, will then start working even harder to achieve whatever goals that they have set out to accomplish, thinking that by wielding more of the physical effort they will be able to fulfill them. A similar misconception was also applied to the concept of alchemy. For centuries many thought that the ancient process of alchemy was designed to extract physical gold from other base metals. Yet again, our human desire for material wealth overwrote the true essence of the inner process of transformation. Till this day though we can utilize the process of alchemy to transmute our current, modernday circumstances and to overcome any limitations that we are faced with. What is required is for us to take responsibility for the current state of our affairs in all areas of our life. Instead of reacting or avoiding, we can wield our ability to respond. By asking ourselves deeper questions we can start building conscious inner wealth of security, prosperity and peace

which in turn is then reflected in our outer reality as the metaphorical gold–an expression of value. The two most vital alchemical questions to ask oneself are “Who am I?” and “Who do I want to become?”. When I embarked on my spiritual journey I began to ask myself these questions. Initially I thought I had to pick one individual that I wanted to emulate and since I thought it had to be someone of the same gender I decided to pick Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Yet, I did long to mirror others impactful individuals such as Martin Luther King Junior. His powerful speeches and charisma were so inspiring to me. Eventually I discovered that I could pick and choose characteristics of many and create my own ideal image of who I wanted to become. Let me illustrate with an example from my own life. As someone who immigrated from Europe at the age of twenty to the United States, I was very determined to acquire my own version of the “American dream”. I had a very hard work ethic inherited from my Polish culture. Even before graduating with my Computer Science degree, I was offered a job at one of the top Fortune 500 companies. I was thrilled. It really did feel like I made it. I worked very hard and diligently to be the best I could be in my new job. I was “the first one in and the last one out”. This lasted for years. One day I was paired up to work with another engineer. I started noticing that he would come in later and leave quite early. He was very jovial, relaxed and yet he was very much

valued by the whole team. His demeanor was in stark contrast to who I was being at that time: stressed, somber and often tired. One day I asked him: “How do you do it? How do approach your job with such ease?” He responded: “I value myself and my time.” The words did not fully sink in at that time, however their echo reverberated within me for years to come. They sparked immense curiosity in me and I embarked on a quest of understanding and defining that for myself. I started questioning my own value. I noticed that I did perceive external value within my abilities and education, however what became apparent was that internally I did not have a high sense of self appreciation. I was holding onto a belief that because I was an immigrant I had to work much harder, because I was a woman in a male-dominated industry, I had to work extra. Once these beliefs emerged I could fully accept them. This was not an instantaneous process. It was not easy to face those beliefs. It took a bit of time as I was easing myself into realizing how I was putting extra burden and expectations onto myself. Once I faced those limiting beliefs I defined a new paradigm for myself when it came to my inner value for my professional contributions and I started acting to uphold it. Shortly thereafter I was approached by one of the managers and asked if I would be interested in becoming a manger myself. As I accepted the position I could make more money for the same amount of time invested. As I

EVOLVINGMAGAZINE.COM

changed my beliefs about my inner value I could attract more outer value. I gained much freedom and more satisfaction in my professional environment which in turn trickled down to other areas of my life. I encourage you to ask yourself, with compassion and curiosity, what beliefs that you might have would contribute to creating the circumstances that you are finding yourself in that limit the amount of wealth and prosperity in your life. Bringing those limiting beliefs into light will guide you towards finding the purpose for cultivating new attitudes, for building new character traits within yourself. As you call upon this alchemical process, the inward transformation will be reflected in the outer/physical plane of your existence. Abracadabra... Spiritual Horoscope 13

June Horoscope Gemini (May 21 – June 20) Happy birthday Gemini! Your year begins with intense focus and intuition. Write out your goals for the year, and imagine things as grand as possible! When doubts arise, examine your selflimiting beliefs. Meditate on what it would be like to attain your goals without those constraining ideas. Maintain that faith and expanded vision though out your day! Financial abundance flows in, but make sure you attend to your most crucial bills first before you play. Cancer (June 21 – July 22) It’s easy to get frustrated or discouraged if you’re not getting your needs met. Meditate and reflect upon with whom you’re interacting. Are you somehow seeking water from an “empty well”? Don’t let other people’s emotional limits make you feel bad about yourself! Seek out friends, relationships and jobs that are an “energetic match”. Find generous, positive and loving people. Also, focus on the concept that the Universe is a place of all sorts of abundance and wants you to be fulfilled! Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22) Meditate on anger, irritation and resentments. Clear out your mind of what’s been rattling around in there. Some issues can be imagined or blown out of proportion. Some are valid, but need grace, tact and timing. You need a clear head from meditation to discern. And also seek advise from a trusted, wise and impartial friend. Once your mind and heart are unburdened, you’ll have renewed energy physically, and fresh motivation for goals. Also seek advice about finances before making big decisions, and beware of spending as a way to “let off steam” as you explore unconscious patterns right now. Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22) If you’re having challenges in relationships, be playful together. Plan fun activities that are new to you both. Play sports or board games for friendly “conflict”. Spend time with mutual friends who are active and have a good sense of humor. If single, do active things that explore new parts of yourself.

Meditate on seeing yourself in fresh ways, not just “as you are” as if you’re set in stone. Also meditate on your partner as a fluid, evolving person as well, because they are! If single, connect with people who aren’t your usual type, yet share your values. Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22) Observe your reactions to authority figures, such as supervisors as work, or even your spouse/partner when you’re having conflict. In an effort to always be nice, you can give away your power. Right now planets show how you get defensive or panicked when feeling “bossed around”. Meditate on healing core issues with parents or family, looking for similar patterns. Also remember you’re always in control of your reactions to others. Ponder the truth that you’re steering your own ship, which is hard to believe when you’ve triggered an old story. Even a few deep breaths can restore you to center, so breathe before you even think, speak or act! Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21) Spiritual growth is a gradual process, but you might feel very impatient right now! As a Scorpio, you’re blessed with visualizing and believing in perfection, but cursed by the self-flagellation of not attaining what you know is possible. Meditate on self-love, and allow yourself errors or lapses in judgement. Focus on loving yourself each moment. Gently align your thoughts toward kindness and patience, and ironically, you’ll advance in leaps and bounds in ways that are vital to you!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21) A bunch of planets work together to help you tap into passion! That can mean sexuality, creativity, physical energy or financial abundance. You’re naturally enthusiastic. Meditate on what experiences or acquired belief systems snuffed your spirit. Find ways to forgive the past and rebuild trust in life. You might even find you have a food allergy or that environmental toxins weigh down your joy. Have a heart-centered practice each day, even as simple as walking in nature for a few minutes. Your intuition will reawaken and you’ll feel excited and internally directed once again! Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19) Don’t let your perfectionism and self-criticism keep you from love! You don’t have to be perfect to be in a healthy, happy partnership. Also be aware of picking fights with those close to you as a way to “prove” how unworthy you are. Or watch for exaggerating everyone’s flaws to justify your emotional isolation. Meditate on how many people love you and are inspired by you. Think of friends, family, your spouse, children, co-workers, even pets! As you are gentle with yourself, be gentle with others who have their own fears of bonding and potential rejection. Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18) Meditate on how habits of irritation, or old resentments can limit your vitality. Make a list of things that make you unhappy. Gently breathe in and then take a very long, slow exhale, imagining one of the items on your list leaving your body, mind and soul. Continue with each item until you feel renewed and reinvigorated. You can also practice when having a massage, or during a yoga class. Lots of people can be edgy this month, so remember to have compassion for others how are as uncomfortable as you’ve been. Inspiring solutions to problems will pop into your mind because you’re not bogged down with petty “junk”. Laughter is also a great stress reliever now, as is playing with pets! Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20) You’re so giving and accepting, Pisces! But also remember boundaries and limits. If you’re super irritated, don’t lash out at

EVOLVINGMAGAZINE.COM

others. Meditate on how you’ve allowed a pattern to develop. When you’re more calm, you can communicate your needs to the “offenders”. Set your new limits clearly and respectfully, but it’s up to you to check in with yourself often to see if you’re maintaining those limits. It’s a “retraining process” for you as well as for people around you. Be gentle and consistent with everyone involved! Aries (March 21 – April 19) If you’re frustrated at work, or anywhere in your life, resist the tendency to “ram” through the issue with force. Remember the power of your intuition! Cultivate it with meditation each day. Even ten minutes of sitting with deep breathing attunes your mind to ingenious ideas that bring alignment to everyone involved. As solutions flow into your life, you might even get an amazing promotion or brand new job since you’ll be seen as even more valuable than before! Practice “mini-meditations” with household members for harmony there, too! Taurus (April 20 – May 20) Remember the power of words! Be careful of complaining about problems, which can block your intuition from bringing you answers. If you think the issue is insurmountable, you can overlook whispers from your soul that hold the key to freedom. Speaking affirmations and feeling what it’s like when the issue is resolved, makes “magic” happen in your life! Hang out with friends who believe in positive shifts. Ask them to help keep your mind centered on the bright future that is on its way!
