On behalf of Prime Minister Harper and the Government of Canada, I’m delighted to welcome you to the 36th Farm Progress Show. This annual event attracts thousands of Canadian and international visitors each year, and is a shining example of innovation in agriculture today. In addition to growing our trade and showcasing today’s most innovative farm technologies through the new Farm Credit Canada Innovations Centre, the show is also building a bright future by recognizing the accomplishments of Saskatchewan’s 2013 Outstanding Young Farmers. Congratulations to all nominees! Our Government’s top priority is the economy and by supporting a vibrant and dynamic agriculture sector, we are helping pave the way to long-term prosperity for all Canadians. Economic Action Plan 2013 provides tax relief by extending the temporary accelerated capital cost allowance for new investment in machinery and equipment in the manufacturing and the processing sector. It also increases the Lifetime Capital Gains Exemption for small businesses, including farms, and expands the scope of capital cost allowance for clean generation and conservation equipment so that a broader range of applications and technologies qualify for this measure. Through Growing Forward 2, Canada’s new agricultural policy framework, we are placing even greater emphasis on market development, innovation and competitiveness. Growing Forward 2 represents $3 billion in federal, provincial and territorial initiatives - that includes an increase of 50 per cent in cost-sharing investments. Overall, it will give our farmers and food processors the tools and resources they need to stay ahead of the ever-changing demands of consumers, turn ideas into jobs and profits, and realize the enormous untapped potential of this dynamic industry. I invite all visitors to go see the many farm products and technologies on display. Welcome to my home province and enjoy the show!
Minister’s Message On behalf of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture, I would like to welcome all visitors to Canada’s Farm Progress Show 2013. The Government of Saskatchewan is proud to be a long-time sponsor of the Farm Progress Show. The Show’s dedication to the agriculture industry by showcasing the latest advances in farming is crucial to growing the industry and ensuring that our producers have access to the latest technologies. Saskatchewan’s agricultural industry is growing. We are now the largest agri-food exporter in the country with exports of more than $11 billion, and our customers include countries all over the world. Events like the Farm Progress Show are important for increasing trade. In 2012, the Ministry of Agriculture was able to work with the Farm Progress Show on two international trade missions. These partnerships will help us reach the targets set out in the Saskatchewan Plan for Growth of increasing the province’s crop production by 10 million tonnes and our agri-food exports by 50 per cent to $15 billion by 2020. Congratulations to the Farm Progress Show staff, management and especially the volunteers, whose hard work and dedication is at the heart of this outstanding international event. Best wishes for another successful edition of Canada’s Farm Progress Show.

his year again, visitors will find the International Business Centre (IBC) presented by HSBC in the Co-operators Centre – upper level. The show organizer is excited about our growing numbers of international visitors and export members. The IBC’s location allows a view of prime exhibit space of the show. The programming in Canada’s Farm Progress Show’s IBC sets it apart from other shows of its kind. Last year, the IBC welcomed over 600 international delegates from 50 countries. As the focus on global business continues to grow, the speed and complexity of international business communications flourishes as well. Interactions with foreign buyers that were once nearly impossible to bring about have become commonplace. The IBC takes full advantage of the opportunity to bring buyers and exporters together in one marketplace, providing tremendous value. The IBC provides a complete business service package to all international visitors, including assistance with hotel reservations, ground transportation to the show and airport, private meeting rooms and comprehensive business services. Professional staff is on site daily to facilitate introductions and meetings between buyers, trade delegations and export members. This year we will again
be offering business 2 business meetings between export members and international visitors. The IBC is a cooperative effort of the Government of Canada and Saskatchewan and Manitoba provincial governments. The IBC also has support from Western Economic Diversification Canada, Saskatchewan Ministry of the Economy, Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership (STEP), Manitoba Trade & Investment, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, Agricultural Manufacturers of Canada and Canada’s Farm Progress Show. Through the IBC outreach program, thanks to its supporting agencies, Canada’s Farm Progress Show is promoted at more than 70 Canadian consulates and trade offices throughout the world.

Michael Fougere, Mayor
Show Manager’s Message Welcome to the 36th Annual of Canada’s Farm Progress Show. It has become the industry’s leading agriculture showcase. It was recently recognized, for the second year in a row, as Canada’s Largest Tradeshow and by Saskatchewan Tourism as the Event of the Year. This event promotes the latest in agricultural equipment, technology, services, and farming practices. The Farm Show has earned a strong reputation by continually providing attendees with the opportunity to see the latest and best in agriculture production. As the needs of the industry change, the programming at the Farm Progress Show improves to reflect those changes. While the main purpose of the Farm Progress Show is to offer agriculture companies the opportunity to showcase their products to qualified buyers who operate agriculture businesses, it’s also an event where attendees can come to learn about the most innovative farming practices through participation in educational seminars and meaningful discussion with exhibitors. Over 45, 000 attendees will visit more than 800 exhibitors located in the 1.9 million sq.ft of show space. Everything

that is needed to conduct a farming operation will be displayed. A major factor attributed to the longevity of Canada’s Farm Progress Show is the successful implementation of the many featured programs aimed at making a visit to the show an enjoyable and productive one. These programs include the FCC Innovations Showcase and New Product Launches, the Energy Centre, the Livestock Centre, the Antique Truck & Tractor display and pulls, The Modern Lifestyle Pavilion, and Shuttle Services for attendees and exhibitors. A truly unique program at Canada’s Farm Progress Show is the International Business Centre. The IBC is designed to introduce international visitors to those exhibitors that export product. In 2012, 50 countries were represented by over 600 international visitors. These export members are invited to meet the International visitors for the purpose of creating a business relationship. Each year the Farm Show features something new. Please visit our web page, Facebook page or twitter account often to see what is being showcased this year. Please accept this as my invitation to attend the 36th Annual edition of Canada’s Farm Progress Show presented by Viterra June 19 – 21, 2013, Regina Saskatchewan Canada.

Lyndon Carlson
Senior Vice-President, Marketing – Farm Credit Canada Be an Agvocate
Why? What you say about agriculture influences how people view the industry. By speaking positively, we can all help the industry attract financing, build consumer trust and get young people excited about opportunities in ag. Agriculture More Than Ever is an industry-driven cause to improve perceptions and create positive dialogue about Canadian agriculture. Shifting perceptions about anything takes time. It’s not done by one person, but through the collective, committed efforts of many. Fortunately, while shifting perceptions can be difficult, becoming involved in shifting them isn’t – it starts with our own behaviour and attitude. Share your passion and optimism for agriculture and let it shine through everything you say and do – being an agvocate is that easy. Lyndon is a major driving force behind Ag More Than Ever, and he’s been speaking across the country to ignite ag pride. Attend this lunch to hear about what others are doing to promote the industry, and learn about the tools available to help you speak up and speak positively. Being an agvocate means looking for opportunities to talk about what’s going well in agriculture. Fill in information gaps, help dispel myths and learn more about the industry. You can help tell the real, positive story of Canadian agriculture, and we’ll help you get started.

Will Oddie
The why and how for those interested in exploring this emerging opportunity Enjoy lunch while listening to a presentation by a seasoned Saskatchewan Organic Producer, Will Oddie followed by a panel of expert buyers, marketers and certification representatives from the industry. They will share their experience including the processes, market demand and challenges to meet the current demand for organic products. There will be time for networking and questions to all parts of the industry Will Oddie has been a certified organic farmer since 1991, operating at Milestone (until 2006) and northwest of Regina (Tregarva), the home farm. Will’s change to organics was prompted by his concern for the effects of chemical use on the land and on our food. He has grown a wide variety of crops over the years, even trying garlic at one time! Over the years, Will has supported the organic industry through a variety of volunteer positions with his local organic chapter as well as being on the board of his international organic certifying agency, OCIA. Off-farm, Will works for Kelln Solar and is a renewable energy consultant who writes a periodic column for the Western Producer. In addition to the field crops, he and his wife Elaine have a herd of Canadian horses and offer bed-andbreakfast and bed and bale operations at their farm on a selected basis.

A New Approach to International Agricultural Trade Agriprocity is forging a fresh approach to international agricultural trading. We facilitate direct trading relationships between Canadian farmers and international processors. Small-medium sized Canadian producers are missing out on lucrative overseas export market opportunities because to date a model has not existed to link them, directly, to the relevant end processors. Agriprocity gives this segment of the Canadian farming community a platform to grow their overseas export business, while mitigating many of the risks associated with traditional international trade. Our unique model allows for greater forward planning of your agribusiness as well as a deeper connection with purchasers by removing intermediaries and focusing on purposeful growing and guaranteed forward contracting. By encouraging collaboration amongst its partners, Agriprocity helps foster greater security, efficiency and sustainability within the agriculture production and procurement process.

FRIDAY, JUNE 21
Promoting innovations in agriculture industry has always been a focus of the Canada’s Farm Progress Show (CFPS). This year, the FCC Innovations Program, will once again feature new inventions and improvements made to existing products. The program showcases a broad range of Dutch Openers Credit Union Event Plex – 70212, 70214, 70216, 70218 Airguard Seed Brake ■ Uses a series of washers at the exhaust port so you can control the airflow to match your specific type of opener. The opener tubes release product vertically so there is little to no air flow needed to dispense product. Helps to achieve perfect seed fertilizer placement by reducing the chance of plugging, from fertilizer dust and other contaminates and delivering products to the furrow with the least amount of turbulent air flow. Haukaas Manufacturing Ltd. Outside Lot D – 8528 Trailer Mount Conveyor ■ To unload both hoppers to one central point without having to move the truck. Use at seeding time to reach air seeder
products and celebrates the development and creations in agri-business. All products recognized by the FCC Innovations Program will be showcased in The Co-operators Arena 6 in the Co-operators Centre. Visit the show to vote for your favorite innovation.

Mushroom stack 2 bales at a time. Stack 4 bales high in hay shelter. No maintenance. HES Manufacturing Arena 6 60214, 60216 HES Manufacturing Aeration ■ Do it yourself retro-fit aeration system for hopper bottom bins. To aerate grain in existing or new hopper bottom bins.
Hypro Spray Group Credit Union Event Plex – 70528, 70530 9307 Series Pumps with ForceField ™ Technology ■ Hypro brand 9307 Series Pump, with ForceField Technology is a pump designed for today’s rugged environment offering a unique isolated seal chamber that improves reliability, robustness and extends the life of the pump. The product solution pump of a crop sprayer conducts a myriad of compounded chemistries through its system. The seal chamber of this pump is designed with a passive pressure compensating system to safely protect the mechanical seal faces against all chemistries without the need for monitoring.
Power Pin Inc. Arena 6 – 60101 Hit N Hitch Pintle ■ Benefits farmers and construction people when hooking up their farm trucks to pintle hitches. Our new Hit N Hitch Pintle works exactly the same as Power Pin’s Drop Pin for farm tractors. From the cab of the truck the hitching operation can be achieved, it is one trip from cab for truck/trailer hitching but one safe trip. Our new design eliminates many of the problems associated with the current pintle that manually had to be locked down onto the trailer ring. It has a swivel locking plate vertically so there is no room for gravel, ice or salt build up.
Renterra Inc. Arena 6 – 60202 Renterra Farmland Rental Auction Inc. ■ An electronic farmland rental auction website that identifies “for rent” land and allows farmers to bid on rental land. RentThisLand Ltd. Arena 6 – 60103 RentThisLand.com ■ A brand new 100% custom created (by farmers) web service to automate farm land rental. The only website with full features for both landowners and farmers and the first Canada wide site of this nature Yanush Enterprises Outside Lot L – 6204 Grade – All ■ Pull style grader that swivels and tilts to adjust to changing roads or field conditions Seed Master Outside Lot M 9492 Full Last Implement Pall (FLIP) ■ Patented mapping software that activates Auto Zone Command and halts product flow the first time openers pass through an overlap area. Product is applied on the last pass. Prevents double seed and fertilizer from being applied and allows the operator to avoid any seed bed disturbance.
Tri Star Farm Services Ltd Lot L 6100, Arena 6 60204 The Patented Sync-Row Seed Drop ■ This is a patented Monosem innovation. The sync-row metering system allows the seed to be placed in a diamond shape for optimized seed bed utilization versus traditional row planting. The sync-row alternation system is highly recognized in corn and sunflower production. Further testing is being evaluated on soybean and canola production from a yield benefit. Secondary Air System ■ This is unique to the planter industry. It uses the air from the vacuum system to help and prevent blockage in the seed discs, pertaining to small seed singulation. It helps prevent blocking of the seed disc hole from skins of the seed, seed coating and general debris. Without this system in it, you have ununiformed seed placement. NG Plus Series Monosem Planters ■ Persitcon vacuum planter for seeding canola, corn and soybeans. Singulation and depth control of seed for high production seeds.

Speak up, speak positively Those of us involved in agriculture love what we do and we want the best for our industry. We know why agriculture is important to Canada and the world, and that it provides a lifestyle that can’t be beat. But we tend to be a humble group, so others may not hear this message. We need to remember: image matters. What we say about agriculture influences how people view our industry. Share your passion and optimism for agriculture and let it shine through everything you say and do – being an agvocate is that easy. Agvocates look for opportunities to talk about what’s going well in agriculture. They fill in information gaps, help dispel myths and learn more about the industry. Image is critical to our future, and fortunately we have a very positive story that we can tell. So let’s tell it.
• Get young people excited. There are jobs – great jobs. There’s farming of course, but many more options from science and sales to processing and manufacturing. • Speak positively. Investment tends to flow to progressive industries that have a promising future. • Inform consumers we’re capable business managers and stewards of the land, driven to produce safe, high quality food using sustainable methods. Our image matters – in fact, it has never mattered more. Tell the world why you love agriculture and what the industry means to you. We’re counting on you to tell the real, positive story of Canadian agriculture.

Antique Tractors, Trucks & Parade Presented by
The Outback MAX™
Canada’s Farm Progress Show While the Canada’s Farm Progress Show’s main focus is to look to the future of agriculture, event organizers also recognize the importance of saluting the past as well. Spend some time at the Antique Tractors & Trucks showcase and find out why the farm machinery technology that existed decades ago is still enjoyed by many today!
Next Generation Precision
M
any of the machines have been restored to their original glory. Grab a cup of coffee and take a few minutes to chat with the owners, who will be more than happy to provide you with a truly inspiring story as to how that particular piece of equipment came to be. Visitors can view more than 100 pieces of equipment (including tractors and other farm machinery) on display in the Pasqua Prairie Harlton Buildings. The indoor display is open all three days of the show. Twice each day, the tractors are fired up in preparation for a trip around the show grounds in the Antique Tractor Parade presented by Chevrolet. The parade route is often lined with young and old alike who enjoy the sights and sounds of these small but mighty machines of yesteryear. The parade takes place daily at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and follows the tram route. In a true test of pure strength, check out the Antique Tractor Pull, taking place daily at 2:30 p.m. on Lot H. The tractors test their owners’ skill at balancing power, speed and pressure levels, which allow them to dig in and hold on!

CHINA
Many Westerners enjoy buffets of Chinese cuisine and now guests at Canada’s Farm Progress can enjoy a veritable buffet of Chinese technology. Five companies from China’s Jiangsu province along with the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) will be hosting displays at CFPS’s upcoming show. CCPIT and the Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership have signed a memorandum of understanding to share agricultural techniques and technology between Jiangsu and Saskatchewan. The Chinese exhibitors will be profiled at the Saskatchewan Building. The participating companies include: ■ Xuzhou KAT Machinery Company ■ Jiangsu Donghe Machinery Co. Ltd. ■ Jiangsu World Agricultural Machinery Co. ■ Mahindra Yueda (Yancheng) Tractor Company Ltd. ■ Nantong Guangyi Mechanical & Electrical Co. Ltd. This exhibit is a tremendous trade opportunity for Canadian producers and equipment manufacturers alike. In 2012, Saskatchewan nearly doubled its exports of canola and canola oil to China which was a major factor in boosting China to Canada’s No. 2 trading partner overall.
A long day of walking around the show grounds is bound to make a person thirsty. westernag.ca The coverage areas shown are approximate. SaskTel cannot guarantee that coverage will be exactly as shown since factors beyond our control also affect coverage. These include weather conditions, terrain, your distance from a cell tower, and whether the cell is being used indoors or outdoors. Saskatchewan 4G coverage is as of December 31, 2012. 4G LTE coverage effective date is January 31, 2013. Coverage areas outside of Saskatchewan are subject to change without notice. Long distance charges apply outside local calling areas. Rates vary depending on service plan. Mobile internet access speed provided by the network operator may vary due to the device being used, network congestion, distance from the cell site, topography, environmental conditions and other factors. Speed on the Internet is beyond the wireless network operator’s control and may vary with your configuration, Internet traffic, website server and management policies, and other factors. 4G and 4G LTE are not available in all areas. Fastest claim is based on comparing SaskTel 4G LTE network service to any other LTE network service in Saskatchewan, based on SaskTel test of average upload and download speeds in large Saskatchewan centers.

CROPSAVERS® & GRAIN BOSS™
ADVANTAGES OF CROPSAVERS® GRAIN BOSS™ GRAIN BAG EXTRACTOR FEATURING: Saving $6-$15 per acre, Cropsavers® will pay for themselves after the first 1,000 acres. Reduces trampling by 80 to 90 per cent. Saves flag-leaf damage when spraying fungicides or herbicides. Less volunteer grain the following year in sprayer tracks. Easier swathing, combining and tillage when grain is not trampled.
When running in cereals, Cropsavers push flag leaf aside so plants recover.
• Capacity 13” model moves 200 bu/min and 16” model moves 300 bu./min • Maneuverability Steerable self propelled wheels for easy bag alignment • 360º rotating unloading auger No moving the truck to even out the load • Easy set up and clean up improves downtime • Pull through roller design means only having to deal with the empty bag once • Narrow design makes it possible to use when snow is banked against the bag
Hydraulic jack option for faster and safer tire changes and Quick attach for easier, quicker and safer handling.
Cropsavers are able to cross most ditches or spray rolling fields with moderate drainage channels without a problem.
With most trailers there is no interference with loading.
The S-Series When the time is right you want the right machine
We didn’t just redesign the S-Series combines, we broke the mold. Beginning with a Class 9 combine, the S690. It boasts 543-hp at rated speed and 617-hp* at its peak power, making it one of the most powerful combines on the market. Better still the cleaning shoe on the S-Series features a chaffer with 30% more louver area. So when that window of opportunity is open, you can get in the Ɵeld sooner and Ɵnish earlier, without compromising your crop. Comfort and convenience are top priority too. The cab is like nothing else – 30% more interior space, integrated refrigerator and armrest display, and the best view in the industry. Visit your John Deere dealer today. *At 1900 RPM.

The Leader in Overlap Control FLIP maps out overlap areas - prompting Auto Zone Command™ to turn off seed and fertilizer in each zone - preventing overlap and saving money. Systems without Auto Zone Command create much more overlap - wasting money on double inputs.

“In the heavy crop year of 2009, accelerator plug ups in canola were so severe that an eight foot snipe could not back it out. We had 3 to 4 of these plugs that would take up to 6 hours to unplug. That prompted me to install the Kuchar accelerator, impeller and discharge beater for 2010. In 2010 we did not have the big crop of 2009, however, there were good stands on the higher ground. My combine operator, when asked how the additions affected the combine, said the big difference was that the dust out of the feederhouse was almost nil. That probably was due to the Kuchar accelerator and impeller. It is a great feeling going to the field with confidence, knowing that plug ups and burning belts will not be a problem.” Art Beck, Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan, Canada “In 2010, after damaging the feed accelerator in our JD 9770 STS combine, we decided to look at upgrading it. At the 2011 Farm Progress Show in Regina I talked to Mike Galbraith from Triangle Harvest Parts and the Kuchar representative from the US. The Kuchar feed accelerator was built much heavier and stronger and looked like it would serve our needs. We grow a variety of crops on our farm and the Kuchar feed accelerator I purchased performed very well during the 2011 harvest. I used the smooth accelerator paddles and they worked well in peas, lentils, canola and cereals. I would definitely recommend the Kuchar feed accelerator to anyone considering an upgrade to their combine.” Dennis Peters, Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada
