Along the crystal clear waters of the northern shore of Flathead Lake lies the town of Bigfork, Montana, where the water is clear, the sky is blue, and adventure is always in the air. Here each of the four seasons is fully experienced and no matter the weather, there is something for everyone to do. Nature is the town’s greatest attraction. Flathead Lake is the obvious gem with its pristine clearblue, tropical-like waters that span 27 miles long and 15 miles wide, leaving room for every kayaker, enthusiastic swimmer, paddle boarders, and even the party boats. Drive 45 minutes north and you’ll be in nature heaven at Glacier National Park. Hike, bike, walk or swim at what is considered to be one of the most stunning national parks. Each season is celebrated and appreciated to its fullness in the Bigfork area. With breathtaking landscapes, here the outdoors is everyone’s favorite place. In the fall, admire the Tamaracks in their full autumn foliage visible for miles. During winter, traipse through the woods to find the perfect Christmas tree or go snowshoeing and see wildlife in their natural habitat. Because of its long winter season, adventures like dog sledding, ice fishing, and snowmobiling are common occurrences, and it’s no challenge to find a place to try any of the activities. Experience a day on the slopes followed by community and fellowship at the local brewery, where you just might find your new favorite brew. In the spring, admire the new life growing while paddling on any of the local lakes like Swan lake or Echo lake while the myriads of wildflowers decorate any open space on nature’s floor. Summer brings the opportunities to try mountain biking or horseback riding, or even llama treks. Better yet, challenge yourself and bike the famous Going to the Sun road in Glacier Nat’l Park. Not one for challenges? Hang out in town and enjoy all the best things, like the farmers’ market, local stores, live music, and the chance to make new friends. Bigfork is an area for all ages, a place where everyone is guaranteed to have a memorable time, which is the reason for its massive expansion over the past 20 years. More than just a few visitors have decided to place more permanent roots, with many either moving their residence to Bigfork or purchasing vacation homes.
