STAFF SPOTLIGHT: PARIS WALTON
I have worked for ISMHS since Jan. 23 as the camp program manager. I am responsible for the oversight of summer and school-year camp programs including program development, budgeting and training new hires. Here are 10 things about me!
1. I am Indianapolis born and raised.
2. If I could travel anywhere in the world, it would be to the Great Rift Valley in Africa, known as the “Cradle of Humankind” because of the archeological significance. This is where Lucy the Australopithecus africanus was found.
3. I taught high school physics and chemistry - they are my favorite school subjects.
4. My favorite food is salmon.
5. I am a morning person, especially after a cup of green tea (no sugar).
6. My favorite teacher of all time is Mr. Davis. He taught marching band at Arlington High School and allowed us to march in Mardi Gras every year! I was first chair trombone.
7. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because it is near my birthday, and it takes minimum effort to gather friends/family or to plan a celebration. I spend quite a bit of time with Girl Scouts as the treasurer and in leadership with the Westside Indy Service
Unit. Also as a troop leader and cookie mom for Troop 128 — a group of eight freshman scouts we’ve been working with since they were kindergartners.
8. My favorite song currently is “Them Changes” by Thundercat.
9. My favorite movie is Superbad.
10. The best advice I have received: Do it right the first time, and you will not have to do it again.
