This Zine discusses the way that healthcare providers can protect and disrupt the microbiome during labor and delivery. The goal of this zine is to provide healthcare providers with knowledge on the microbiome during labor and delivery to improve patient outcomes.
This Zine is inspired by the work of Dr. Lexi Dunn and her recent publication (Dunn et al., 2017). Labor and delivery nurses and midwives were consulted during the creation of this Zine. We hope to have captured their experiences in association with the material discussed, and provided recommendations that are realistic for the care they provide. The recommendations presented in this Zine do not override clinician judgement and do not constitute medical advice.
This Zine was created with funding from The Center for Reproductive Health Research in the Southeast (RISE) at Emory mini-grant. Emily Wissel is supported by the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship under Grant No. 1937971.
