What Are Meal Plans? What is included in a meal plan? Meal Counts: Meal counts are the value-booster to meal plans. Meal counts are used for “All You Care to Eat” at Main Street Dining at Tawanka, or Baldy’s during specified hours, or at the Eagle Express and Morris Street Market for a $5 value. À la Carte: À la carte points can be used at any dining location. Students pay for each item individually using points. Eagle Flex: Eagle Flex is a prepaid, declining balance account similar to a debit card. Eagle Flex is used to purchase goods on and off campus from merchants who participate in the program. Choices: Dining plans are prepaid at the beginning of each quarter, with a preset number of points to spend on food during that quarter. Campus cash registers scan student IDs (EagleCards) and subtract the point value of each meal. Points are safer than carrying cash and it’s easier to stay on budget using them. A printout of where and when points are spent is available anytime. Call 509.359.2540 or stop by the business office in Tawanka for more information.
Using Your Meal Plan Using your meal plan: Meals at Eastern can be prepaid with cash, credit/debit or check, giving you a preset number of points and meal counts to be spent on food during the quarter. Your student ID (EagleCard) includes a debit card feature, which deducts dining dollars (points) and meal counts as you use them and automatically keeps a running balance. To use your meal plan, give the cashier your EagleCard and state, “I would like to use (à la carte/meal counts/Flex) to pay for this.” Dining (À la Carte) Points: Can be used at any dining location on campus, as well as the Thinking of You (TOY) gift program. Meal Counts: Meal counts are the value boosters in your meal plan. They are accepted at the following locations: Main Street Dining at Tawanka, Baldy’s, Eagle Express and Morris Street Market, and at EWU Dining Services special events. Flex Account: Flex can be used at most places on campus, as well as at participating off-campus vendors. Cash/Check/Credit/Debit (No meal plan necessary): Can be used at all dining locations on campus. How do I sign up for a meal plan? EWU Dining Services meal plans offer the flexibility every college student needs, with the variety and tasty choices you want. Our combination of residential and retail services supply a well-rounded selection, whether students are on the move or gathering with friends around a dining table.
Off-Campus Meal Plan 250 Plus Off-Campus Meal Plan: Designed for commuter and off-campus students, this plan comes with 25,000 à la carte points, $50 in Flex points, and five meal counts. À la carte points are good at nine on-campus locations. Meal counts are accepted at Main Street Dining at Tawanka, Baldy’s, Eagle Express and Morris Street Market. The 250 Plus plan is good for the school year, late September to mid-June. Convenience and Value: Enjoy the convenience of carrying one card on campus, giving you added options for purchases on and off campus with your EagleCard student ID. Flexible: The 250 Plus Off-Campus Meal Plan may be purchased unlimited times. Meal plans have three types of dining accounts: Flex dollars, à la carte points and meal counts, which can be utilized for food and nonfood purchases. Meal Plan Accounts, Locations and Services: Flex dollars are accepted on and off campus for food and nonfood items. Flex vendors are listed on our website at www.ewu.edu/eaglecard. À la carte points are accepted at nine on-campus dining locations, which are listed on our website at www.ewu.edu/dining. Meals counts are accepted at Main Street Dining at Tawanka (“All You Care to Eat” meal service), Eagle Express and Morris Street Market ($5 everyday meal counts value). Saving Incentive: Save 8.7% sales tax on all à la carte and meal counts purchases on campus. Meal counts will expire at the end of each quarter. À la carte points will carry forward from fall to winter quarters, and from winter to spring quarters.
