LIFE ON CAMPUS CHOOSE YOUR HALL

DISCOVER THE

EWU SECRET

NEED-TO-KNOW INFO What you get out of college depends entirely on how much you get involved.

And the best way to get involved? Living on campus.

. . . . . .

Students who live on campus have higher average grades. They’re more likely to graduate on time. They go to graduate school in greater numbers.

They participate in more events, concerts, clubs, organizations and sports. They report having more friends and more fun. They say they’re happier and like college more.

The question isn’t about choosing whether to live on campus. The question is about choosing the hall that’s best for you.

EXPLORE LOCAL

CULTURE AND CUISINE

CHENEY AND MORE Sure, the town of Cheney is small, but it’s also a place that loves EWU and its students. Best part: you can get off campus and into nature’s beauty in less than five minutes. Believe us: we timed it.

SPOKANE It’s Washington’s second-largest city, and it’s just 16 miles away from your residence hall. The Lilac City boasts great shopping, a hopping nightlife, Broadway performances, nationally recognized restaurants, a garbage-eating metal goat (way cool) and your chance to find internships and jobs (way cooler).

CAMPUS DINING Food without cooking: it’s the perfect solution for a socially busy, academically dedicated student. Choose from diverse menus prepared by EWU’s professional chefs and bakers. You’ll love the taste, too: last year students enjoyed nearly 50,000 scrumptious muffins … and that’s from just one of the nine dining hotspots on campus! Visit ewu.edu/dining for more information about the meal plan that’s best for you. (You’ll have to choose a meal plan when you apply for housing.)

BECOME THE HEART OF THE HALL

LIVING LEARNING COMMUNITES An LLC is a small academic community inside a large residence hall. Sometimes they’re just a handful of rooms. Sometimes they’re an entire floor or more. You’ll always find a home that makes you feel comfortable and accepted.

. . . . .

WHY CHOOSE AN LLC? Extra time with professors. Faculty and staff often come to the halls to lead your in-hall study groups. Better grades with study buddies. People share your academic interests and your study habits. Friendship. You just “click” with people when you share classes and your social life. Fun. Special events and outings help you find activities and social networks you’d never find otherwise. Experience. Employers love to see passion and commitment, and life in an LLC proves you have both.

LLCS TO CHOOSE FROM EPIC Adventures: Shoot the rapids, climb the cliffs and experience the adrenaline rush of all types of adventure. (Streeter) Leadership: Transform your community and campus through your academics, volunteering and campus organizations. (Dressler) Global Connections: Meet world travelers, expand your language skills and choose your international path. (Streeter) Computing and Engineering: Code, solve and engineer novel solutions to the problems you discover in your classes and projects. (New Hall)

Science: Whether you’re an aspiring nurse, biologist or occupational therapist, find ways to show your commitment to the world with biology, chemistry and math. (New Hall) Explore: Apply the theory you learn in class to real-world experience while you explore majors and careers. (Dressler) The Arts: Live in a vibrant community of talented musicians, artists and writers as you create works of art, music and graphic design that help people see products and ideas in new ways. (Streeter)

CHOOSE

YOUR HALL

SEVEN HALLS, SEVEN PERSONALITIES Each hall has its own rules, its own culture and its own personality. You can even choose your own roommate through Facebook. The majority of EWU halls are coed. Men and women live on the same floor with separate bathroom and shower facilities.

CAMPUS IS GROWING The new hall opens fall 2013, and students are already in love with the spacious rooms, wide-open common areas and the laundry machines that can tell your phone your laundry is done.

NCAA DIV. I SPORTS The red turf. A football team ranked #1 three years in a row. National award winners in football, basketball and track. Six men’s teams and eight women’s teams. Living on campus means you’re always part of the action.

CENTER OF IT ALL

THE URC The University Recreation Center is right in the middle of all the residence halls, and it’s home to rock climbing, volleyball, ice skating, slam dunking and power lifting. All you need is your student ID.

INTRAMURALS (IM) More than 2,500 students take part in intramurals every year. Whether you’re a total newbie or a serious athlete, you’ll find the perfect level of competition. It’s especially easy to stay fit and confident when your residence hall is just minutes away from the court.

Who knows? Because intramurals are open to all students, staff and their spouses, you might just end up beating your professor at your favorite sport.

EPIC’S NOT A CLUB. You don’t “join.” It’s an outdoor adventure group for all students, and they love it. No worries if you’ve never tried an activity before: all skill levels are welcome. Backpacking Camping Canoeing Kayaking Whitewater rafting
