COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

Welcome to the fall 2018 issue of the College of Business and Public Administration newsletter! As Dean of the College of Business and Public Administration, I am proud and privileged to share some of our college’s recent successes with you. This past spring, faculty members, staff, students, and advisory board members gathered to celebrate the extension of our business programs’ accreditation by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. There are more than 16,000 colleges and schools of business around the world, and only five percent are accredited by AACSB. Achieving AACSB accreditation is synonymous with the highest standards of excellence in programs that we offer our students. Our business programs have maintained AACSB accreditation since 1974. In their report, the visiting accreditation team commended us on establishing an engaging and “comprehensive and effective curriculum management and Assurance of Learning (Assessment) system,” and also recognized our “one-of-akind degree and certification program in partnership with Microsoft (Data and Business Analytics),” and on “the creativity, impact and multiple layers of engagement from its entrepreneurship program.” Earning and maintaining AACSB accreditation would not be possible without the dedication, collaboration, and engagement of our CBPA faculty, staff, students and advisory board members. I am exceptionally proud to celebrate this success with you! In June, we held our annual CBPA Honors and Awards Program, where we recognized the accomplishments of our outstanding students. Students in our graduate and undergraduate business, planning and public administration, and economics programs were recognized for their academic achievements and contributions to the university and their community. I hope that you enjoy this issue of our newsletter. As you will read, CBPA students, faculty, staff, and alumni have been achieving great things, and I am looking forward to even more success in the new academic year. Sincerely,

Ahmad Tootoonchi, PhD Dean, College of Business and Public Administration
