Fall 2021
Colleagues of Excela Health,
Another wellness year has passed us by and we are still living through challenging times. In 2021 while we continue to face the pandemic and overcome obstacles we understand the need to prioritize our own health and well-being. We are not only healthcare workers, but we are also sons, daughters, parents, grandparents and friends and our well-being is significant to everyone in our lives! Take a moment and think about the reason we are all healthcare professionals... probably because we all have an overwhelming capacity to help and care for others. No matter what position we hold at Excela Health we are all helping to care for our patients and we are striving to improve the patient experience at every point of care! Oftentimes we care so much for the health and well-being of others that we tend to forget about our own health. And that is exactly why our Well-Being Center is here to help. In 2021 the Well-Being Center vowed to make our wellness year as stress-free as possible and with much success. We want to continue by making the 2022 Excela Health Wellness program even easier to complete! We have added more biometric screenings, bigger rewards for improving your report card, simplified badge claiming, and continued enhancements to our stress and nutrition programs with more wellness badges attached! We have all been in this together from the beginning and the Excela Health family has stuck together. But when times seem tough always remember your friends at the Excela Health Well-Being Center. We are here to keep you healthy so we all can continue to do amazing things to help this world. Remember we always have your back!

WELLNESS YEAR 2022 Frequently Asked Questions
When does the Wellness year begin and end? The Wellness year is October 1 through September 30. New hires/new enrollees hold a different deadline for their first year depending upon when they were hired. You can view the specific wellness deadlines on the wellness intranet page.
Do I need to get a biometric screening? We highly encourage all of our employees to participate in a free biometric screening every wellness year. Not only can our screening give a health “snapshot”, but you also have the possibility to earn more than 200 wellness points simply with one screening! The earlier in the wellness year you complete a screening the more points you earn, also if you improve your health year over year, we have a badge for that!
What if I cannot make it to any of the scheduled screenings? We have so many options available to you to complete a screening and earn wellness badges/points even if you do not make it to our WBC biometric screenings. We offer options such as Physician Derived Results (must be within current wellness year October to September) or schedule an appointment at our WBC in Mountain View during our normal available business hours. Go to the Employee Wellness/Well-Being intranet page for more options and to download Physician Derived Results form or simply give us a call at 724-830-8568 for more info.
I received my COVID-19 Vaccine and/or Booster, but why didn’t I receive the badge and points? We are able to automatically upload and claim the COVID-19 Vaccine badge and the COVID-19 Vaccine Booster/3rd Dose badge if you have received the vaccine through Excela Health. However, if you received the vaccine(s) at another location, simply email the WBC at wellbeingcenter@excelahealth.org and we will be more than happy to help you claim your badges. Spouses are eligible to claim as well! Remember you can only claim the COVID-19 Vaccine badge once so if you claimed in 2021 Wellness Year you are ineligible for 2022 Wellness Year.
How do I sign up for a biometric screening? All appointments can be scheduled through the calendar on the main intranet page. Click the date and time you desire for an appointment and click ‘register’. If there is no appointment available at that time simply check another time of the same date. If the “register” tab is highlighted yellow then there is availability at that time.
Will my badges from medical claims be uploaded to my wellness right away? Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of insurance companies and medical claims can take up to 2 months to be reported.
If my badges are uploaded up to two months later how will I get credit for my exams? Since the reporting takes time we have created a new time frame for medical claims. Receive your preventative exams, vaccine, etc between August 1 and July 30 (our fiscal year) then we will make sure your badges are uploaded for the current Wellness year. Get an exam, test, or vaccination after July 30? No problem you will receive the badge and points on the next wellness year beginning in October!
How do I see a dietitian? All you need to do is contact our Well-Being Center at 724-830-8568 or email us at wellbeingcenter@excelahealth.org. Remember employees, spouses, and dependents are eligible for nutritional counseling through our Well-Being Center dietitians. Don’t forget you earn a 25-point badge for an initial appointment with a WBC dietitian and additional 15-point badges for follow up appointments.
How do I sign up for group exercise, Employee Wellness Gyms or personal training? Our group exercise classes have now expanded to on site and virtual! Go the the Well-Being Center Intranet page or email us at wellbeingcenter@excelahealth.org. For our Employee Wellness Gym membership and personal training options follow the link to our website and fill out the form to get started or contact us at wellbeingcenter@excelahealth.org
How do I sign up for Unplug & Recharge? We want you to continue to build resiliency and manage stress with our weekly emails and onsite customized stress and resiliency programs for you and your entire department. Simply send a request to wellbeingcenter@excelahealth.org. Also don’t forget a customized program participation earns a 25-point badge and stress email participation receives two 15-point badges as well!
I want to quit smoking, but where do I start and who can help? There are many options available to you including a customized cessation program available to employees and spouses with the Excela Health Well-Being Center’s Norene Auer, Tobacco Cessation Specialist. Successful completion of this program after 6 months earns you a 100-point badge!
