COVID-19 Vaccine available at Excela Health Employees, medical staff, volunteers and members of the public are eligible to schedule COVID vaccines at the Excela Health Vaccine Clinic. Excela Health is currently offering the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. The Moderna vaccine is available for anyone over the age of 18 and the Pfizer vaccine is available for individuals age 5 years and older. In order to make your immunization experience as efficient as possible, a vaccination appointment is recommended. To schedule a vaccine, simply visit ExcelaHealth.org to access the Vaccine Registry and schedule an appointment, OR Call the Excela Health Vaccine Information Line at 724-689-1690. The phone line is open Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. and calls are answered on a first-come, first-served basis. COVID-19 Vaccine booster shots are available for Pfizer or Moderna vaccine recipients who received their second shot in their initial vaccine series at least 6 months ago and are at least 18 years of age. Pfizer booster shots are now approved for those ages 16 years and above.

"The numbers that we are seeing today meet and exceed what we were seeing last year at this time," Dr. Carol Fox said. "We are really and truly above capacity." Fox said about 40% of the patients across Excela Health are being treated for COVID-19. Of those patients, she estimated 85% are unvaccinated. Read more.

Random Acts of Kindness Employees at Excela Hospital campuses received random acts of kindness this week from the Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society and Westmoreland Hospital Auxiliary. The organizations assembled gift cards and beautiful gift baskets which were distributed randomly to employees. The Westmoreland Hospital Auxiliary donated 40 gift cards and 23 baskets and the Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society donated 20 gift cards and 22 baskets. Collectively, the donations are valued at $3,920.

Donation to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Local Greensburg “Champions of Pink” Mary Kay consultants and supportive clients donated more than 100 chemotherapy care gift bags to cancer patients of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center facilities in Westmoreland County. Staff from UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at Arnold Palmer Pavilion accepted these gifts on behalf of patients and will distribute to them this holiday season. Employee Engagement 2022 Benefit Plans ID Cards Employees will be receiving new enrollment cards in the next few weeks at home in the mail. Some of this mail may look like junk mail, so please be vigilant. Cards are always available to print/request cards from your account or by contacting the provider’s member services. Learn More

Extended: Enhanced Employee Referral Incentive In our continuing efforts to initiate and sustain opportunities designed to strengthen our abilities to recruit and retain staff for select positions within the organization, we are extending our Enhanced Employee Referral Program to January 24. Positions include: Registered Nurse or CNC, Registered Respiratory Therapist, Surgical Technologist and more. Applicants must be offered and accepted during this timeframe.

Kudos & Recognition Kudos ED hold and SPU A patient in the SPU wanted to thank everyone for the excellent care in the ED and SPU. They saw first hand how busy the employees and are appreciative of everything they are doing for the patients with a professional and caring attitude.
