Volume 3 Issue 13 ImPACT Testing Available at Excela Health To aid in the continued health and well-being of our youth, we offer a state of the art concussion program designed to reduce the risk of concussion while keeping people active and involved. The focus of our Sports Concussion Program is to educate and assist athletes, parents and coaches in the proper identification and management of concussions. The Excela Health Sports Concussion Program are proud to be a credentialed ImPACT® Consultant and leader in sports concussion management. Every Saturday from June 6 through July 26, 2020 baseline tests will be offered for a flat rate of $25. To schedule a baseline ImPACT test, call 724-689-1070 to secure your appointment. Baseline tests are recommended for students, ages 10 and older, who are involved in school or club sports. The 20 minute test measures verbal and visual memory, reaction time, visual motor speed and impulse control.
Updated COVID-19 Visitor Policy Effective Friday, June 5 one visitor or support person will be permitted to be present for hospitalized patients, Emergency Department patients, and to support patients at the conclusion of outpatient procedures and testing. Visitation will be subject to the following restrictions and exceptions described below: • Visitors with a cough, fever or who show other signs of illness, will not be permitted to enter the building. • No visitors under the age of 16 will be permitted. • No visitors will be permitted in rooms of patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 or who are under investigation for COVID-19; hospital staff will assist loved ones to remain closely connected with these patients through virtual means including FaceTime and phone. • Patients who are at the end of life or critical clinical situations may have additional visitors. • Every visitor must bring and wear a mask while in any Excela facility. Westmoreland County Man Discharged After Battling COVID-19 for Seven Weeks Mark Nicholas spent seven weeks in the hospital after being diagnosed with COVID-19 in March and finally got to go home to his wife on May 13. Excela Health Medical Group Update On June 1, Dr. Jennifer Douglas transitioned Westmoreland Hospital where she will care for inpatients as a hospitalist. Keri George, CRNP, Dr. Alan Christianson and Dr. Gina Canada, who joined Excela Health in May, and will be scheduling appointments in her place at Delmont Family Medicine during this transition. Also, on June 1, Dr. Zimmerman, Family Medicine, and Jeff Grasmeder, CRNP moved to Excela Square at Norwin, their phone number is: 724-765-1271 . Dr. Michelle Rathgeb, Internal Medicine, has moved to the Penn Township location and can be reached at 724-864-8491. In May, Excela Health welcomed Dr. Frank P. McGrogan, Family Medicine physician. Employee Engagement EAP Services Update Washington EAP services released a new online seminar free to Excela Health employees to find comfort and acceptance in the aging process. This session addresses age-related changes to help become accustomed to the natural process of aging. Virtual Safety Fairs June is National Safety Month! The 2020 safety fair will take place in a virtual setting. Each Monday in June check Featured News on the Intranet for a word puzzle that you can complete and submit to Lisa Yetter (lyetter@excelahealth.org) until the following Monday to be entered into a drawing to win a gift card! There will be other exciting opportunities to celebrate National Safety Month as well, be sure to watch Featured News and your Excela Health email for details.
Fire Extinguisher Training Due to social distancing, registration is required for training this year. Class size will be limited, so register as soon as possible! Class is approximately 30 minutes and begins at the top of each hour. You can register through the Calendar of Events, here or e-mail the Call Center at callctr@excelahealth.org. These are the only days that will be scheduled at these locations in 2020. This mandatory education is required of all employees at least every 2 years.
