Lung Cancer Awareness Month It’s five millimeters in size. It could be the start of lung cancer. And a chest X-ray can’t see it. But at the Excela Health Advanced Lung Center, we’re using the latest imaging technology – low dose computerized tomography (low dose CT) with DynaCAD advanced visualization tools– to detect and treat lung masses at their earliest stage.

Healthiest Employer

Since 2016, the Center has performed more than 6,000 low dose CT scans for early detection of lung cancer. Cancer was found in 2.2% of our study population. “Fortunately, the vast majority of these patients were determined to be early on in the disease process, when it’s potentially most curable,” said Michael Szwerc, MD, Medical Director of Robotic Surgery/Director of Center for Lung and Thoracic Disease at Excela and Head of the Advanced Lung Center. “That’s the compelling value of using low dose CT as a screening tool from both a patient and physician perspective.”

Excela Health has been recognized as one of the Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America, an awards program administered by Springbuk®. With this award, Excela Health is nationally recognized as one of the best-of-the-best in worksite health. The Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America award culminates the conclusion of the year-long wellness awards program that Healthiest Employers® hosts in over 45 cities across the United States. Each of the winning companies is considered an exemplary leader for the effectiveness of their population health and well-being initiatives. Award applicants were evaluated across six key categories: Culture and Leadership Commitment, Foundational Components, Strategic Planning, Marketing and Communications, Programming and Interventions, and lastly Reporting and Analytics.
