It happens when someone uses your Social Security number (SSN) to file a phony tax return and claim your refund. Employment-related tax identity theft occurs when someone uses your SSN to earn wages, which are then reported as your income. For the safety of these important financial documents we urge you to choose electronic delivery of your W2 and 1095 form (that shows proof of health insurance coverage). By doing so, you avoid mail delivery, and the potential for loss or theft of your SSN. When it comes to matters of importance such as personal tax information, we want you to have the safest method possible to protect your identity and your information. To encourage participation, we will be holding random PTO drawings Safeguard Your Tax Documents! across the health system among all those who select the electronic distribution by November 21. The Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society (LAHAS) marks the 32nd year of their “Lights of Love” holiday celebration on Tuesday, December 3, 6:30 p.m. As in the past, the auxiliary will adorn a tree with sparkling lights near the main entrance of Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. Each light represents a gift in honor or in memory of someone special, each name is $8.50. Individuals wishing to contribute may do so online through PayPal here or download, fill out and mail in the form along with with a check.

Job burnout: The causes, symptoms and remedies “To keep the situation from developing, Excela Health created an ‘Unplug and Recharge’ program for its employees. The 15-minute sessions are led by registered nurse Betty Minerva, who is also a wellness health coach and certified in holistic stress management. Participants work on mindfulness exercises, including breathing, body scanning, thought diffusion, guided imagery and stretching.” Read here

Westmoreland County health system sees turnaround “Signs of a turnaround have emerged, starting with physician hires in cardiovascular surgery that should shrink temporary staffing costs for the system. Excela recruited cardiovascular surgeon Michael Cullig from AHN and Hiroyuki Tsukui from a hospital in Sapporo, Japan. Dr. Tsukui served surgical fellowships at UPMC in the early 2000s before returning to practice in Japan.” Read here
