Dr. Michael H. Culig joins Excela Health at Medical Commons One as a new addition to Excela Health Cardiothoracic Surgical Specialists. He joins Excela Health after serving as chief of cardiovascular surgery and physician champion of operational excellence at Allegheny Health Network. Dr. Culig completed his undergraduate and medical education at Harvard University and advanced his knowledge in healthcare operations by earning his Masters of Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University. He has also started heart surgery programs in Lviv, Ukraine, as well as closer to home in Dubois and Monroeville. Dr. Culig looks forward to enhancing the cardiothoracic program at Excela Health.

Welcome Hiroyuki Tsukui, MD, PhD Dr. Hiroyuki Tsukui joins Excela Health Cardiothoracic Surgical Specialists from the Hokkaido Cardiovascular Hospital in Sapporo from his native country of Japan. There he was chief of cardiovascular surgery and former program director. After finishing his residency training in 2002, he spent his next six years completing a research fellowship at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh as well as surgical fellowships in artificial heart and thoracic transplantation at UPMC. Dr. Hiroyuki is excited to be back in Pennsylvania to continue his efforts at Excela Health.
