John Sphon named CEO Excela Health’s national search process has concluded, and the Excela Health Board of Trustees has voted to appoint John Sphon as permanent Chief Executive Officer. As a Westmoreland County resident, Mr. Sphon is aware of the unique attributes of the system’s service area and has already formed working relationships with local civic leaders. During his time as Acting Chief Executive Officer he demonstrated his skills at connecting with doctors, nurses, staff, volunteers and auxillians. His engagement level and transparent leadership style has brought new energy to the Excela Health culture.

Dr. Kerra Doyle joined Excela Health Obstetrics and Gynecology from St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Doyle completed her residency at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She received her doctor of Osteopathic medicine degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA after completing her undergraduate degree in biological sciences with a minor in French and francophone studies from Carnegie Mellon University. Her path was not always set in obstetrics and gynecology, but originally was in neurology. “After completing my rotation I just really loved it and being able to take care of women”. When not at work Dr. Doyle enjoys spending time with her family and children.

“What do I do with the sad that I feel?” Excela Health Hospice is helping children deal with that question through its Neighborhood Kids grief support program.
