Therapy Dog of the Month April’s Therapy Dog of the Month is Golden Retriever Apryl. Apryl would have turned 5 years old April 9, but sadly, she passed away in late February. She loved visiting patients at Excela Latrobe Hospital on select Sundays with her owner Wendy Cernansky. Along with Excela, Apryl also enjoyed visiting Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Forest Hills Elementary School, where her human sibling, Malena, is in sixth grade. Apryl will be missed by her family and patients she visited. The joy she brought them will not be furgotten.

Excela Good Egg! Excela Health is full of good eggs— employees who are helping our community, achieving success through professional accomplishments, and bringing positive change to Excela's environment. One of these is Excela Health physician Ian Zack. Upon discovering that a patient would be celebrating her 99th birthday in Latrobe Hospital, Dr. Zack brought her cupcakes and his whole staff sang Happy Birthday. Thank you to Dr. Zack for helping our patient celebrate this milestone! Keep watching out for more Excela Good Eggs in Insight and through the Excela Health Facebook page. Are you or someone you know an Excela Good Egg? Email EMA@excelahealth.org with a description of the Excela Good Egg and a photo of him/her if possible.
