Meet Daisy: May’s Therapy Dog of the Month

Meet Daisy, a two year old Shih Tzu, and the May Therapy Dog of the Month. Spring is a time of blooming flowers, including daisies. There are actually more than 20,000 species of daisies, but none of them are like the Daisy we have at Westmoreland Hospital. All year long Daisy visits the first and second floors of Westmoreland Hospital where she makes smiles bloom on patients, visitors and employees. Be In the Moment- Safety Wall Contest The theme for the fourth quarter FY 2019 safety wall contest is “Be In the Moment”. The goal of the board should be to depict what types of tasks you perform that could be potentially hazardous or cause an injury. To enter your board in the contest, take a photo of the board and email it to Lisa Yetter at lyetter@excelahealth.org. Be sure to include your location and department. Submissions must be received no later than June 7.

We will be honoring employees who have recently earned degrees and their offspring (sons and daughters or stepchildren) who are graduating from high school, college or technical school. The graduation gallery will be posted for all to view on Featured News and EMA. Please email a photo to EMA@excelahealth.org and include the following: first and last name of graduate, department of employee, graduation school and/or degree and future plans.

Congratulations to Helen Burns, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. Burns was recognized at the commencement ceremony at Pitt-Greensburg with the presentation of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. She was honored both for her expertise in the area of nursing and the guidance that she provided to Pitt-Greensburg as it developed a program for a bachelor of science in nursing, the first accredited BSN program in Westmoreland County. Through Burns efforts the next generation of nurses are able to learn, live and serve in Westmoreland County.
