Welcome Dr. Robert Reed
August 15, 2019
Volunteer Stories: Vic At Excela Health, we value our volunteers as we value our employees, with respect and appreciation. Vic Bryer, has been volunteering at Westmoreland Hospital Emergency Department for several years. After his wife’s death, Vic looked for another way to care for others in his community. He has been thanked countless times by patients who do not have other visitors, and even by those who do. Vic enjoys the smiles and comfort he brings to patients in stressful times and would recommend this special experience to anyone. "It's a very rewarding thing. I think it's the best job there is."
Emmy the therapy dog Meet Emmy, a 7-year-old Havanese and Poodle mix (Havapoo). She has been a therapy dog through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs since March 2018 and enjoys visiting Latrobe Hospital every other Monday to put a smile on the staff and patients’ faces. Emmy loves to show off her themed dresses made for holidays such as Independence Day and Easter, but she still likes to keep cool in the summertime with bows on her ears. She loves to travel around town to meet anyone she can, even other pups like herself!
Dr. Robert Reed has joined the Excela Health ENT group and will practice out of the office located at Medical Commons Five on the Westmoreland Hospital campus. Dr. Reed comes to Excela Health from Charlottesville, VA where he completed his residency. Dr. Reed began his schooling at the Boston College Carroll School of Management. It was at this time he took an interest in healthcare management and felt he could make more of a difference in patient lives as a physician. He then went on to the University of Virginia where he completed his premedical education, medical schooling and residency. Dr. Reed and his wife are excited to join the local community. “I am excited to practice Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at Excela and be a part of the Westmoreland community!”
Muddy princess Several employees from the GI lab at Westmoreland Hospital and the Laurel Surgical Center were covered from head to toe in dirt in the Muddy Princess Run on June 23 of this year. Jessica Stack, Wendy Mica, Cassie Mica and Jessica Stas endured various physical obstacles , while wading through pits of mud.
