Composer Emily Golan draws from her experience in the classroom to deliver an aggressive composition for younger students that takes them on a musical journey that is first aggressive, but then moves to a more heartfelt lyrical theme before returning to the bold minor themes for an intense conclusion. Popular composer Doug Spata presents us with a solid new piece that will help teachers introduce students to simple cut time and the key of G minor. The rhythmic pulsation is consistent in presentation throughout so the students can focus on more musical matters in this driving composition. (1:30)

We are pleased to have master educator and composer Perry Holbrook join the Wingert-Jones catalog with a rhythmic composition that students will love. Liam Ramsey-White is an up and coming composer who is writing fresh music for string orchestra. With Chariot Race he gives the student the opportunity to play dramatic music that is very idiomatic for the instruments because of his knowledge as a string music educator. This is the gorgeous second movement from Symphony No. 1 by Russian composer Vasily Kalinnikov as arranged for strings by Caryn Wiegand Neidhold. It is a beautiful symphonic movement that stands on its own. It is the epitome of the late 19th century romantic style with its lush harmonic choices and textures.
