Planning for the Future Schemes are available to homeowners over the age of 55 who wish to benefit from the equity that has built up in their houses over the years. There is no restriction on how you use the money; an additional income stream in these tough times, for home maintenance and improvements, a new car, holidays or more common nowadays in order to help a younger family member onto the property ladder. Please call for more information, or to arrange a no-obligation appointment at a time and place convenient to you. If you live in Cardiff or the Vale of Glamorgan call: 029 2068 3605.

Equity Release Are you looking to unlock money tied up in your home? The words ‘Equity Release’ can often strike fear into many. Worries such as “Will I still own my own home?”, “Can I be evicted from my house?”, “Will there be anything left when I die?” and “What happens if I go into care?” are perfectly normal concerns to have. Age Concern Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan are pleased to be working with award winning Equity Release specialists, Bower Retirement Services, who are able to provide you with the facts and separate the good guys from the bad. They provide true independent advice on Equity Release products and explain exactly how the products work and if it might be suitable for you. As members of the Equity Release Council, they only use companies that are also members, which means as a customer you are given specific legal guarantees to live in the property for the rest of your life and a promise that you can never owe back any more than the value of your home.

Funeral Plans It’s often something that we would rather not think about or discuss with our loved ones, but planning for the future by considering a pre-paid funeral plan can offer much needed peace of mind for you and your family. With an advant-age funeral plan from the UK’s largest independent provider Golden Charter, you choose the funeral plan you want and pay for it at today’s prices, relieving your family of any worries and uncertainty at what will inevitably be a distressing time. You will have made the arrangements in advance and taken care of the costs.

Age Concern Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan

Funeral costs are soaring but paying in advance can ease the pain for families and allow you to beat inflation which can offer substantial savings in the future. There are differing levels of packages available and you can tailor a funeral to your personal requirements in advance, incorporating personal touches or alternative ideas. There are also various options as far as payment for a plan is concerned, for example paying in one lump sum or setting up monthly installments. Age Concern Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan can help organise funeral plans and offer free home visits to explain all options involved to determine which is best suited to your personal needs.

This Big Lottery funded project is delivering interactive workshops and events in older people’s groups, schools, youth groups and to organisations across Cardiff and the Vale to challenge negative stereotypes of older and younger people. The project also aims to develop intergenerational projects, where older and younger people will work together. It is being jointly delivered by Age Concern Cardiff and the Vale and the Vibe Experience, the young person’s organisation based in Barry. How do I protect my home and assets from care costs? A shocking statistic is that it is estimated that 70,000 people every year have to sell their homes to pay for care. Th ankfully with a little planning both your home and savings can be protected. Th ere are a number of simple strategies that can ensure the protection of your property and investments so the sooner you act on this the better. Assess your eligibility for local authority assistance and state benefi ts - Your home may have to be sold to pay for your Long Term Care costs. Understand how the Government’s new proposals for the reform of long-term care funding will aff ect you and your family - Any income would be assessed and used towards the cost of your care, your savings and investments could be wiped out. Implement strategies to protect the family home from being depleted by care costs - Your children and grandchildren could lose their entire inheritance. Explore funding options – such as equity release which will allow you to unlock capital in your home so that you can live the retirement you want to live without jeopardising your security. We can advise on all aspects of care planning and will provide you with the correct strategy to ensure that all your assets are protected.

Want to release cash safely from your home to enjoy your retirement? Want advice on the best tailor made plan for you? Equity release allows you to convert some of the equity in your home into cash in your hands without you having to sell up or move out, leaving the remainder for your childrens inheritance. Whilst your home may be your greatest asset and possibly the most successful investment you have made it is of no use to you unless it can be released so that you can enjoy what should be the best years of your life. Simply release cash to enjoy your retirement.

Equity release is a big decision and might not be the best or the only solution for you.

With our extensive experience we can help you
