Advocacy service

A variety of healthy living activities across Surrey for people over 50, including guided country walks, bike rides and Nordic walking. We provide healthy walking activities that are a great way to improve your overall health and fitness whilst also giving you the chance to make new friends. If you are over 50, the GO50 programme can help to introduce you to a healthier lifestyle and the benefits of regular exercise. Walking with others and socialising as you exercise can really add to the beneficial effects of exercise. Computer drop-in

There is always a friendly, convivial atmosphere where everyone is welcome to come along. The groups meet on a Monday, (fortnightly) 10.30 – 12.00pm at the Douglas Brunton Centre in Caterham and once a month on Tuesday, 2.30 – 4.00pm in the Bluehouse Social Centre in Oxted, also once a month on a Thursday, 2.30 – 4.00pm at the Lingfield Day Centre, Transport can be provided.

We have recently been recognised as a dementia-friendly organisation and we are introducing new events and social activities across Surrey at different venues. Studies show that being lonely or isolated can impact upon mental and physical health factors and that lonely people find everyday activities more stressful than those who are not socially isolated. Rates of mortality for older people who are lonely are reported as 50% higher; emergency hospital admissions are a third higher and GP consultation rates three times higher compared with their non-lonely peers. We are delighted to be working closely with Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and the NHS across Surrey on a number of Wellbeing Projects which aim to re-connect individuals, identified by their GP, into their community, so helping them get the most out of life.

You choose the support you need. Our local team will talk to you about your requirements and introduce you to a Home Help who has been interviewed and selected by us. We will be available to ensure you receive excellent service and answer any questions you may have. If required we will, wherever possible, arrange holiday and sickness cover to ensure you receive continuous support. All our Home Helps are security checked, to give you peace of mind.

Our offices are just off Woodbridge Road. Turn into Leas Road and William Road is the first road on the right. Follow the road straight down. We share a building with Rex Electrical. The entrance to our office is on the left, up the flight of steps. Car Parking There are no parking facilities for visitors at Rex House. Nearest public car parks are in Bedford Road, by the Crown Courts and cinema. Guildford has ‘Park and Ride’ services and we are a 7 minute walk from the bus station at The Friary Centre. By Rail Turn right out of Train Station and then left onto Bridge Street. Follow road round past pedestrian crossings and turn left into Bedford Road.
