Welcome to Spencer Denney Centre In 1998, thanks to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, we were given a permanent home at The Spencer Denney Centre in Park Corner, formerly a workshop for older people. In 2001, we became part of the federation of Age Concern England, and changed our name to Age Concern Dedworth Windsor. Since being at Spencer Denney, working with the local community, we have developed and expanded the Centre's activities. To reflect this we became Age Concern Windsor in 2003. In 2012/13 we became part of the merger between Age Concerns and Help the Aged. We are proud to be part of the new AGE UK England and are now officially friends of AGE UK Berkshire 0118 959 4242 2014/2016 our centre has expanded and we now support local people with early Alzheimers. The Spencer Denney Centre is now a community hub for local support groups and social groups. Age Concern groups across the UK have a common objective:

"To promote the well being of all older people and help make life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience" Age Concern believes that an older person, like any other, is an individual and a full member of society who has a right to:

. . .....

Respect for her or his individuality Independence Privacy and Dignity Genuine and informed choices The chance to develop new skills and knowledge The forming and continuation of friendships Have her or his views be known, listened to and accepted

IT Services Facilities

The purpose built IT suite at the Spencer Denney Centre is equipped with both desktop computers and laptops, although people are encouraged to bring their own laptops if they have them. The building has been funded by the Windsor and Eton Rotary Group, the furnishings by the local Co-operative Funeralcare, and the equipment from private donations.

Courses

Courses in the most popular aspects of IT are provided. Some are run as a series of classes while others are designed to be stand alone and can be attended as required.

One to one sessions

These are offered for those people who find the constraints of a classroom course limiting. Tutors are happy to help with most PC issues; many people want to learn the basics, starting to use a PC or laptop, accessing the internet, sending emails, using Skype and writing letters. During these sessions, people can also get help on using tablets and smartphones.

Drop in sessions

Run by volunteers, these allow people to address any issues they have with a particular PC problem on an ad hoc basis.

Hiring

The IT room is available for hire in addition to the classes. It can be set up in different ways: As a standard classroom with desks around the outside with internet enabled computers. As a standard classroom with desks around the outside but without computers for general training sessions With rows of tables for training sessions that do not use computers. Cinema style with all the tables removed and chairs set out in rows for watching presentations or films With a central table for meetings
