REDHOUSE Old Town Hall is a magnificent late Victorian Grade II* listed building at the very heart of Merthyr Tydfil. Boasting exquisite décor throughout, we have a range of beautiful spaces to hire making this wonderful venue perfect for your wedding, civil partnership or vow renewal. Plymouth Courtyard is our larger wedding room adorned with a spectacular glass roof, through which our iconic clock tower will be visible to your guests as they dine and dance under the evening sky. Our team can tailor this room to your requirements providing a variety of seating arrangements, bespoke lighting effects and a raised stage area if required. If you have a more intimate ceremony and reception in mind the Treharris Suite, Keir Hardie Room, (formerly the Mayor’s Parlour) or Galeri Y Faenor all offer something uniquely special for your ceremony and reception. High ceilings, large bay windows, beautiful stained glass detail and period alcoves bring added elegance to your day complimented by our comprehensive fine dining and banquet service. Award-winning chef Jamie O’Leary, of newly-opened JOL’s restaurant and JOL’s at Redhouse, is at hand to help the happy couple design a menu they will remember for years to come. Jamie’s food is beautifully presented and wedding guests will enjoy flavours and textures they have never experienced before. He will provide a wedding breakfast of your dreams with all the trimmings working with the happy couple to make the very most of their budget. Your Special Day Photography and Video recordings Photography during the ceremony is permitted and your guests are welcome to bring cameras to capture the day. You can also take advantage of the beautiful spaces around the building for your photographs. Please remember however, that the building does remain open to the public. Like photography, video recordings are allowed, although only one stationary camera may be used within the room, due to space considerations. The surrounding gardens of Cyfarthfa Park also make a wonderful setting for photographs. Again, these are open to the public. Please discuss any restrictions of photography with the Registrar. Flowers We do not provide floral arrangements for the rooms. If you would like to have flowers in the room, please arrange this with your florist. When making your booking with the venue, please discuss acceptable arrangements and access times for your florist. Music We can provide a music system to play a CD or MP3 of your choice. In addition, we can also include a discreet microphone should you require one (Redhouse only). We do ask that you arrange for a member of your wedding party to be on hand to operate the music system. Alternatively, you can arrange to have live music at your ceremony (Un-amplified only for Cyfarthfa Castle). Whichever option you choose, please discuss your arrangements with the venue and discuss music restrictions with the Registrar. Confetti The throwing of confetti is allowed outside of both venues. We would appreciate it however, if you could ask your guests not to use foil confetti, as it is not biodegradable. Car Parking and Disabled Access at Redhouse Redhouse has a small, private car park that is suitable for your wedding cars, however, we ask all guests and family to park in Castle Street Car Park that is across the square from our venue. The front of the building does feature steps, however, there are two side entrances navigable by wheelchairs. All levels internally can be accessed by means of passenger lifts. Car Parking and Disabled Access at Cyfarthfa Castle There is ample free parking in front of the castle. We cannot, however, reserve spaces for wedding cars or the cars of your guests. Cyfarthfa Castle, situated within the picturesque surroundings of Cyfarthfa Park and nestled at the foot of the Brecon Beacons, provides a stunning location for your wedding or civil ceremony. Built in 1825 as a majestic family home for the Ironmaster William Crawshay II, this sumptuous regency building commands a spectacular view of the valley and town of Merthyr Tydfil and directly overlooks the beautiful Cyfarthfa Lake. Our unique Wedding Room at Cyfarthfa was formerly the office of William Crawshay II and it was from this room, almost 200 years ago, that he oversaw the management of his world famous Cyfarthfa Ironworks. Decorated in the original 1825 wallpaper of blue jasmine on a green background with gold stars, complimented by the original grey/green paintwork, it is an elegant venue and will accommodate up to 50 guests for your special day. Wedding ceremonies or civil ceremonies are held at Cyfarthfa from Monday to Sunday throughout our summer period (April 1st to September 30th), and Tuesday to Sunday throughout our winter period (October 1st to March 31st).
