The Celebration
The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration® in Shelbyville, TN, is an 11-day annual event celebrating the Tennessee Walking Horse. This celebrated show draws nearly a quarter of a million fans from over 40 states, all converging at the historic Celebration® Grounds each year, ending on the Saturday before Labor Day. The event began in 1939 when Henry Davis of Wartrace, TN, inspired by a local festival, proposed a celebration to honor the state’s prized Tennessee Walking Horse.
Held continuously since its inception, the Celebration® has expanded into a sprawling 100-acre complex, featuring a 30,000-seat outdoor stadium, a 4,500-seat indoor arena, practice arenas, and horse stalls for over 1,700 entries.
