GLITTER BONES
Glitter Bones is Zach and Nick, an illustrious electronic duo hailing from Chicago, Illinois. The lo-fi, dreamwave group met in high school, where they abandoned their initial musical endeavors to unite in creating anthems for the fantasy-hearted. Glitter Bones debuted live in March 2010, opening for Animal Collective’s “Deakin”; they have since smitten the Chicago music scene with their swirling melodies and spirited rhythm, opening for the likes of Toro y Moi and oOoOO. The prolific entity that is “Glitter Bones” has released two free EP’s, “Returning the Magic” and “Amulet Calls”, and are currently immersed in the full-length process.

Glitter Bones’ New Track “The Dark Tide.” Jun 14th, 2011 by Rosalee Pipitone
The beginning of “The Dark Tide” is a bit creepy. With the song title and the fact that the band’s name is Glitter Bones, this is not a particularly shocking revelation. This Chicago-based duo’s indie electro-dream pop is darkly imaginative and thoroughly modern. Listening to Glitter Bones’ music feels a bit like you’re watching a scene from an ‘80s movie of someone swimming in slow motion. The lo-fi, dreamwave group Glitter Bones is Nick Donlin and Zach Vouga. The duo opened for Toro y Moi on tour in 2010 and since then, they have been winning over the indie music scene with each new EP. Initial descriptions of Glitter Bones’ sound produce sentences with too many inadequate adjectives and metaphors. (like those above). In reality, their sound consists of cinematic electronic tones and chords, which are reminiscent of neon space movies of the 80s in the best and only way. This base is contrasted by both wailing vocals and a dubious rap interlude. Taken all together, these elements create something entirely unique. Critics love to classify Glitter Bones as chillwave, compare them to pioneering artists such as Animal Collective and move on. In reality, though, the band’s music comes from many diverse perspectives. On their Facebook page, the “About” section simply states, “the swinging sound of hoop earrings” and leaves the rest up to us. -In Your Speakers
Glitter Bones, The Dark Tide “The Dark Tide” starts out on a super high eerie factor. But you know like the best kind of eerie/creepy vibe that you really don’t want to end. And then as the song progresses it gets even more fucking great but definitely the eerie factor is still retained. At about the 2:46 mark I will admit I definitely went WHOA and thought yep I’m gonna be playing this song on repeat for a while. Glitter Bones is the Chicago duo of Nick Donlin and Zach Vouga. Honestly I can’t even really compare Glitter Bones’ sound to any other artists or bands out there. It really is just that unique. Underwater electro eerie dream pop?! Is that even a genre I can patent lol?! So yes this is just a great jam and if you want to hear more from Glitter Bones or dl this jam for free head on over to Bandcamp! -Dance Yrself Clean

New Glitter Bones Tracks!
Oct 15th, 2010 by Katherine Parks Glitter Bones, the power, electro glam band from Chicago, have a style and sound that is theirs, and theirs alone. We’re sure you’re wondering what it sounds like, so today, we have two new tracks from the band to share with you! “Love Before Breakfast” and “Worlds” are on tap for this Friday’s selection, so you are in for a treat. Are you a fan of psychedelia? Love Ben Cooper, Tobacco, The Flaming Lips, and Here We Go Magic? If so, you definitely need to check out “Love Before Breakfast”. It starts with a tinkling of bells, then segues into a really catchy, hypnotic, funky psych-rock sound. The vocals are patterned against really chill guitar and a lot of echoing and sampling, but the sound these elements create is both colorful and memorable. Glitter Bones had their own comment about the artwork for the “Love Before Breakfast” single: “The sexy sorceress found in the track’s cover art really just fell into our laps. Coincidentally we had just finished writing “Love Before Breakfast” and it visually conveyed precisely what we had in mind for the track; finding that one “magical steamy love”, the morning after.” -In Your Speakers
Glitter Bone’s Returning The Magic EP
April 15, 2010
Here’s something that should compliment the warming weather of spring… Chicago-based Glitter Bones‘ dreamwavey, shoegazey, and quite drug-inducedly danceable debut EP Returning The Magic. It’s like a lo-fi Enya in a sun kissed sandstorm, or Noah Lennox wading through velour beach foam on the first day of summer. Or it’s sorta like this: -I Guess I’m Floating
Amulet Calls
August 6th, 2010 If I was making some kind of The Noise Is all-star baseball team, Glitter Bones would be my lead-off batter. Quite a year these guys are having, with a stellar EP in Returning The Magic, an upcoming vinyl release, a full-length in sight, but right now Amulet Calls. Pretty much announcing and releasing this EP overnight, Glitter Bones dropped their second EP on July 15th. Their formula hasn’t changed much, but it feels more bigger, dancier, and hazier than ever, and you’d be doing yourself wrong by missing the underwater jam “Ceremonial Secret,” and six-minute “Kissing The Witch.” Word on the street is that this EP is gonna get a release on cassette from Word+Dreams in the coming future, more info when it comes out. Also, check out this interview I did with the band a few weeks ago.
