Winter Reading Program: All Ages Homeschool Meetup NEW! Snuggle With a Book 30 books in 30 days! February 3 to March 5, for children up to age 6.

ARLS challenges you to read 30 books to your child in 30 days! Beginning on February 3, visit our Winter Reading Program website at: http://www.arls.org/wrp to create an account using your library card number. Then, for the next 30 days, log each book you read to your child. You may log one at a time or all 30 at once. At the end of the program, you will be able to print a completion certificate, which will be your ticket to a special Story Time party at your local branch during the week of March 10 - 14. Children who participate will also get to choose a prize book! Can’t access the site? Please use the form below.

Children and caregivers are introduced to six early literacy skills essential for learning to read including print motivation, narrative skills, phonological awareness, vocabulary, letter knowledge, and print awareness. Monday: Hopewell— 10:30 a.m.

30 Books in 30 Days!

(Grades 6 to 12)

Saturday, February 1 at 2:00 p.m. Hopewell Library Meet Hopewell native and published author Lamar Giles! His newest book is a thrilling young adult offering entitled Fake I.D. Mr. Giles will autograph copies of the book, which will be available for purchase. There will be a door prize and refreshments.

Red Cross Youth Leadership Meetings 1:00 p.m. at the Prince George Library on February 8 American Red Cross Youth Leadership/Preparedness meeting for teens 13-17. We will learn a leadership topic, discuss how to get involved as a Red Cross youth volunteer, as well as learn about steps to prepare yourselves and your community, in the event of an emergency or disaster.

Story time programs aim to instill a love of reading by encouraging parents and other special adults to read aloud to children. Activities in story time promote brain and language development for children from birth to age 5.

Children gain confidence in reading by reading aloud to therapy dogs! Join clever canines handlers and therapy dogs for a fun way to practice reading skills! The program is for students in grades 2-4. Sign up for a 15 minute reading slot from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Registration Required.

Homeschool families with children of all ages are invited to this casual program. Join us to make new friends and connections and discuss a classic book. All ages are welcome. Most of the books chosen are available in a variety of reading levels, from the original to abridged for younger readers. If you need assistance finding a copy of one of the titles, please contact your local branch.
