A. Project Scope: The Scope of the project “It’s Bear Necessities” are: 1. To Study the biodiversity of Palkot Wildlife Sanctuary and its surroundings in the state of Jharkhand.

2. Study of Behavioural Pattern and Life Cycle of Sloth Bear in Palkot Wildlife Sanctuary and surroundings.

3. Human – Wildlife Conflicts in study area*.

I. Historical aspects of Conflicts.

II. Causes of Conflicts.

III. Possible ways to mitigate Conflicts.

IV. Action taken by Authority for Conflict Mitigation and rehabilitation.

V. Aspect of Poaching and action taken against poaching.

B. Study Area: The Study are will be Palkot Wildlife Sanctuary and its surrounding area spread over Simdega and Gumla Districts of state of Jharkhand.

C. Project Team: The Core Project Team consists of 1. Dwaipayan Ghosh 2. Arnab Basu 3. Anwesha Ghatak.

D. Responsibility and Workload Division: Dwaipayan Ghosh: Responsible for listing and study of fauna and avifauna of the study area. Document Photography, Co-Ordination with Govt. Authorities and local people.

He will study the life cycle of Sloth Bears to collect primary data.

He will be also responsible for study of leopard and other wild cats in that area.

Arnab Basu: Responsible for listing and study of flora and fauna (mainly mammals) of the study area.

Document Photography, Co-Ordination with Govt. Authorities and local people.

He will assist to study the life cycle of Sloth Bears to collect primary data. His main responsibility will be analysis of the accumulated primary data.

He will also document the primary data regarding Avifauna of that area.

Anwesha Ghatak She will be responsible for analysis, documentation and presentation of all kind of primary data, collected.

She will be responsible for interaction with other stakeholders in social media.

One member will be included for Snakes, Reptiles, Amphibians, Butterflies and other insects.
