That’s one pooped panda Bei Bei celebrates his first birthday, but falls asleep before the cake THE DISTRICT

LINDA DAVIDSON (THE WASHINGTON POST)

THE DISTRICT Bei Bei did it again. The National Zoo’s giant panda cub, who slept through his media debut in December and then snoozed through his public debut in January, demonstrated again Saturday that he might benefit from an alarm clock. When the time came for the 70-pound cub’s first birthday bash, he was a no-show — sprawled out on the cool concrete floor of his indoor pen while thousands baked in the heat outside for a chance to wish him well. “Oh, no,” said Heiko Ramsey, who had planned a trip from Florida around the panda party, jokingly referring to Bei Bei as his “other baby” he came to see in D.C. Ramsey’s son attends George Washington University. After a while, however, Bei Bei’s mother, Mei Xiang, decided to devour her son’s frozen birthday “cake,” a 100-pound block of flavored ice packed with chunks of apples and sweet potatoes. Only a handful of American and Chinese VIPs got to see Bei

Crowds visited the National Zoo on Saturday for a birthday celebration for Bei Bei, who will be 1 year old today.

Bei frolic early Saturday, tasting his new favorite treat, honey, during the official celebration of his birth on Aug. 22, 2015. Standing in the zoo’s panda pen, Chinese Ambassador Cui Tiankai addressed more than 50 TV cameras from news outlets around the world. He called Bei Bei’s birth and healthy first year the “fruit of collaboration between China and the United States and a strong symbol of our friendship.” As if on cue, Mei Xiang soon sauntered up and began licking

a bamboo stick holding a banner that read, “Luck and Friendship.” The invited crowd of Chinese officials and zoo executives gushed as the elder panda’s move initiated a Chinese tradition of choosing a life symbol for the panda cub. But soon, the cub returned indoors and thousands who had waited to see him saw only the sleeping cub’s backside through a glass observation window. The public celebration was supposed to culminate with the cake-eating display. Bao Bao, Bei

Bei’s older sister, awoke from a nap and had a cake with a big “3” on top. Her birthday is Tuesday. But zookeepers couldn’t wake Bei Bei — despite a practice run with the cub a day before. Ramsey and his family didn’t budge for an hour, each wearing furry panda hats despite the heat. After a while, Ramsey acknowledged that he probably wouldn’t see the cub: “Even if he doesn’t come back out, it was pretty cool to be here.” AARON C. DAVIS (THE WASHINGTON POST)

The agency said in a news release Friday that staff are evaluating the elevator to learn about the recent failures. Poll: McAuliffe’s approval lower than predecessors’ VIRGINIA A majority of Virginia voters approve of Terry McAuliffe’s performance as governor, but that positive rating is weaker and more partisan than what nearly all of his predecessors enjoyed over the past two decades, a new Washington Post poll finds. Fifty-three percent of registered voters approve of the Democrat, and 33 percent disapprove. With 17 months left in office, McAuliffe enters the home stretch of his four-year term with big goals in health care, economic development and

felon-rights restoration still uncertain or unmet. Yet his most high-profile aim — delivering his critical swing state for close friend and political ally Hillary Clinton in the presidential election — appears to be on track, with The Post’s poll finding that the former secretary of state has a wide lead over Republican Donald Trump in the commonwealth. “People aren’t really paying attention to Richmond, given the two-ring circus that is the presidential campaign,” said Steve Farnsworth, a professor of political science at the University

The shirt, which is available for purchase online, says, “Sorry I’m Late … Metro Was On Fire.” Although strict grammarians might miss the comma, the T-shirt’s message still serves for people who miss their trains. The shirt — which goes for $21.99 online — is the doing of Nick Stocchero over at Twitter’s @IsMetroOnFire and a related website. He said he hopes the proceeds will help pay his web server bills. Satire aside, Stocchero said he hopes it also draws more people’s attention to the need to invest in the nation’s ailing infrastructure. SILVER SPRING

Police: Man robbed, forced to swim across Potomac

Natural gas blamed in blast at building that killed 7

Gov. Terry McAuliffe will announce today that he has restored voting rights to 13,000 felons on a caseby-case basis after Republicans and state Supreme Court justices last month blocked his more sweeping clemency effort. McAuliffe’s planned action comes about a month after the state Supreme Court invalidated an executive order the Democratic governor issued in April. With that order, McAuliffe restored voting rights to more than 200,000 felons who had completed their sentences. He said his original order would move Virginia away from a harsh policy of lifetime disenfranchisement.

Authorities said a group of men robbed a man on the bank of the Potomac River in Arlington before forcing him to swim across it. Sgt. Anna Rose, a spokesman for the U.S. Park Police, said the victim was standing by the riverbank Thursday when the group approached him and took his wallet and cellphone. Police said the man was then forced to swim across the river to D.C. Rose said he made it to the other side, where he alerted authorities. Rose said two suspects were detained but were later released. U.S. Park police are asking anyone with information to contact authorities. (AP/TWP)

A buildup of natural gas caused an explosion and fire that killed seven people and injured dozens of others Aug. 10 at a Silver Spring apartment building, investigators said Friday. The exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation, but Daniel Board of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said authorities have found no evidence that anyone intentionally caused the explosion or fire. But he also declined to officially classify the incident as accidental. The National Transportation Safety Board, which investigates accidents involving gas pipelines, is now leading the investigation. (AP)

Older brother of boy in viral Aleppo photo dies

Mourners in Turkey attend a funeral Sunday for victims of an attack on a wedding party that killed at least 51.

Child suicide bomber kills dozens at wedding 69 people wounded; Turkish government blames Islamic State GAZIANTEP, TURKEY A child suicide bomber killed at least 51 people and wounded 69 others at a Kurdish wedding party near Turkey’s border with Syria, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Sunday, decrying the attack as an apparent attempt by Islamic State extremists to destabilize the nation by exploiting ethnic and religious tensions. The bombing late Saturday in Gaziantep was the deadliest attack in Turkey this year. It comes amid ongoing struggles between the government and Kurdish militants linked to

the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), and as Turkey is still reeling from last month’s failed coup attempt. Erdogan said immediately after the Gaziantep attack that any strategy “meant to incite the citizens against each other along ethnic and religious lines will not work.” In a later statement, he said the attacker was between age 12 and 14. He said 17 of the wounded were in critical condition. The pro-Kurdish political party HDP condemned the attack. In a statement, the HDP said it was “quite significant” that the attack, which it also blamed on ISIS, came hours after the Kurdistan Communities Union, a militant organization that includes the PKK, announced plans to try

to negotiate an end to a threedecade conflict between Kurdish militants and the Turkish government. There was no immediate claim of responsibility from ISIS. “[This was] just a regular wedding party,” Hamdullah Ceyhan, a bus driver who shuttled some of the wedding guests, told the state-run Anadolu Agency. “This attack was deplorable. How did they do such a thing?” The bride and groom were undergoing treatment for nonlife-threatening injuries, but the groom’s sister and uncle died, Anadolu reported. The suicide bombing follows a June attack on Istanbul’s main airport in which ISIS suspects killed 44 people. CINAR KIPER (AP)

TECH GOES TO THE BEACH

Selfies will aid delivery of the treat you crave Two ice cream shop owners in New York are trying to solve a vexing question for visitors to crowded beaches: How can I get a Popsicle without losing my coveted spot near the water? The Times in London reports that entrepreneurs at Rockaway Beach have contracted with engineers in India to develop an app called Combrr (a playful reference to beachcomber) that will enable users to order an ice pop (or barbecue food from another local vendor) and request delivery. How to find them on a crowded beach? No problem — the app will use available GPS technology. Oh, and customers will be asked to take a selfie so the delivery person can identify the right party. The app is to launch soon — hopefully before the summer season ends on Labor Day. (THE WASHINGTON POST)

Water recedes, cleanup begins LOUISIANA The floodwaters that killed at least 13 people in Louisiana are falling, giving way to the hard slog of cleaning out, rebuilding or just finding somewhere to live. Some 3,200 people remained in shelters on Sunday afternoon, said Mike Steele, spokesman for the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. He said more than $30 million in federal housing assistance has been approved for Louisiana residents. In St. Amant, La., about 20 people helped Sheila Siener muck out her house, removing furniture, appliances, carpets and wallboard. “It’s much worse than I

to pay attention to the extent of flooding because it wasn’t a hurricane. He said it would be helpful if people would donate to the Red Cross or the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, or volunteer. “Typically, by this point in a storm, I think Red Cross would

be receiving a lot more donations,” Edwards said. “I think there would be more volunteers signing up.” Edwards, a Democrat, said he suggested to President Barack Obama and presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett that they delay a trip to Louisiana until recovery efforts had started. However, Obama is traveling to Baton Rouge on Tuesday, the White House announced Friday. Edwards also praised Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s Friday trip to Baton Rouge. Charles Craft, of Walker, La., said Sunday that he and his wife lost their home but salvaged some family photos. “My story is no different than anybody’s down the road,” Craft said. “Everybody’s life is out on the curb to be picked up by garbage.” MAX BERCHERER, EMILY WAGSTER PETTUS AND JANET MCCONNAUGHEY (AP)

Mothers form fastest-growing segment in jail During the past four decades, the number of people in jail on any given day has swelled from 157,000 to approximately 750,000. Most people in jail are men, but the fastest-growing incarcerated group is women. Since 1970, the number of jailed women has grown 13-fold, from about 8,000 to almost 110,000, according to a new report from the Vera Institute of Justice and the Safety and Justice Challenge. Nearly 80 percent are mothers of small children; many of them are single. The authors said that the increase could be caused by the financial pressures of single parenthood, which can lead to minor crimes, which law enforcement has increasingly cracked down on. Women in jail are also more likely than their male counterparts to be the sole guardian of a child, which can make it harder to obey a probation schedule. The increase did not happen evenly across the country. Small counties, those with fewer than 250,000 residents, had a larger gain. The number of women in these jails increased 31-fold between 1970 and 2014. The authors say policymakers should be aware of the unique challenges women face, such as higher unemployment rates, lower average wages and more mouths to feed on their own. DANIELLE PAQUETTE

A flip-flop on immigration? Trump campaign was built on hard-line plans, but reports cite change WASHINGTONPOST.COM POST NATION

Interracial marriages still rile emotions

GERALD HERBERT (AP)

ANALYSIS Donald Trump launched his campaign on a promise to be very, very tough on illegal immigration — and immigrants. He called Mexican immigrants “rapists” and “criminals.” He would later promise to deport every single one of them — even approvingly referencing a controversial 1950s mass deportation program known as “Operation Wetback.” He has in recent weeks prominently featured victims of crimes perpetrated by illegal immigrants. But based on reports and suggestions by his top advisers over the weekend, it sounds as if he’s considering seriously changing his tune — in what would amount to a stunning flip-flop. Late Saturday, BuzzFeed and Univision reported that Trump backed away from that rhetoric at a meeting with a group of newly announced Hispanic advisers, appearing open to a plan to deal with the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants that is not deportation. “Importantly, Trump did not explicitly use the word ‘legalization’ at the meeting, but sources in the room said they feel it is the direction the campaign is going,” BuzzFeed’s Adrian Carrasquillo reported. Univision, meanwhile, reported that three attendees said

GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump holds a Hispanic advisory roundtable meeting in New York on Saturday.

Trump “plans to present an immigration plan in Colorado Thursday that will include finding a way to legalize millions of undocumented immigrants.” Top Trump advisers were asked Sunday to respond to the reports, and they didn’t exactly reject them. Asked twice whether he was sticking with his plan for a deportation force, newly installed Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway deflected and then told CNN that it was “to be determined.” Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., meanwhile, said Trump is “wrestling” with how to handle illegal immigrants already in the U.S. “What I’m certain about is that he did not make a firm

commitment yesterday, or [in] the meeting the other day, about what he will do with that,” Sessions said on CBS News when asked whether Trump still supports deporting all 11 million. “But he did listen, and he’s talking about it.” Trump’s campaign is playing down the reports and says nothing has really changed. But it clearly has. Even in equivocating and saying it’s “to be determined,” the campaign is striking a far different tone than Trump has before. Conway was twice given the chance to reiterate that Trump will deport all illegal immigrants and she didn’t. And that has been Trump’s position. Anything else would present a major change from a

guy whose primary victory and 2016 campaign have largely been defined by his hard-line immigration stance, complete with a Mexico-funded border wall. But this weekend is not the first time Trump signaled he might soften his position. In a February interview with The New York Times editorial board, Trump reportedly said his plan was negotiable (he later denied that). In June, Trump said he would not call his plan “mass deportation.” We don’t know what Trump will propose in the days and weeks ahead, but the fact that he’s even thinking about it is notable, because his existing plan was clear and unequivocal, presented over and over again. Most people in the U.S. say they accept interracial relationships, but a new study of brain activity shows some hidden bias. Researchers surveyed students at the University of Nebraska — young people, who did not grow up in a more racist era — and recorded their brain activity while they looked at pictures of hundreds of couples. In a survey of attitudes about relationships, the students reported little disapproval of interracial couples. But photos of interracial couples triggered activity in a part of the brain that registers disgust. While these students may not be representative of the nation at large, their feelings are “probably not exclusively a Nebraska thing,” lead researcher Allison Skinner of the University Washington said. About one in eight people who married in 2013 tied the knot with someone of a different race, according to a Pew analysis of American Community Survey data. That’s about 12 percent, nearly double the share in 1980, when it was 6.7 percent. The study comes as the movie “Loving” is set to debut in theaters in November. The film chronicles the story of Virginia couple Mildred and Richard Loving, whose then-illegal mixed-race marriage led to the landmark decision by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1967 to legalize interracial marriages nationwide. chest the perfect canvas for seven gold medals. A champion at 22, Spitz enjoyed a slew of post-Olympic endorsement deals that eventually dried up. Where is Spitz now? At 66, he’s a motivational speaker in California. Mary Lou Retton, the gymnast who scored two perfect 10s in 1984, was America’s sweetheart. She became the first woman on the Wheaties box and earned endorsement deals with Energizer, Vidal Sassoon and McDonald’s. Where is Retton, 48, now? She’s a motivational speaker in Houston. Today, of course, we have a multiplatform pop culture market that chews up celebrities like Chiclets. There’s always a need for more, and many Olympic

Most Olympic medalists find fame fades quickly once games are over OLYMPICS Most Olympians train their entire childhoods in sweat-filled bubbles for records, for glory, for shiny, circular hardware. But what happens after the podium and the anthem? Especially if your sport doesn’t earn prime-time real estate and remains amateur in status? There’s nowhere to graduate to after you earn a medal in shot put or badminton. And the financial remuneration? Thin, to put it mildly. Cyrus Hostetler, an Olympic javelin thrower, says the most he has netted annually from the sport is about $3,000. Many, if not most, will return to day jobs or college. At best, they will earn local fame and modest endorsements. In the old days, when the world felt smaller, the Olympics resonated longer in the nation’s collective consciousness. Athletes were showered with endorsement deals and guest spots on talk shows for more than a few weeks. But for even the athletes with the most medals, the fame hardly lasted a lifetime. Olympic swimmer Mark Spitz became a ’stached pinup star in the 1970s, his oiled and hairless

celebrities are happy to oblige. Reality TV, here they come. “Dancing With the Stars,” big on movement, short on chatter, appears to be the default reality venue for Olympians, including speed skater Apolo Ohno (winner of Season 4), ice skater Kristi Yamaguchi (winner of Season 6), and gymnast Shawn Johnson (winner of Season 8). Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce, is that rare Olympian who has held the nation’s interest, first for athletic prowess as the winner of the 1976 decathlon, then for appearing on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” and today as a transgender celebrity. “He came across as humble and articulate and had a very pretty blond wife who had been integral to his success,” said Buzz Bissinger, who is writing

a memoir with Jenner on the journey from Bruce to Caitlyn. “Unlike today, he was a true amateur. The perfect story line.” With hyperactive social media, Olympians are not even guaranteed our undivided attention during the games. Moreover, after 120 years, the modern Olympic movement has grown vast. More than 800 gold medals will have been awarded at these Games — not all of them to Michael Phelps. Those who stay in the spotlight often find that it turns into a tabloid glare. Phelps is worth an estimated $55 million from endorsements. But during a brief retirement, he also earned boldface ink from two DUIs, a six-month suspension and a stint in rehab. Former Olympic shooter Edward Etzel, a professor of sports and exercise psychology at West Virginia, who won a gold medal in 1984, contends the games are rewarding, just not always financially. Most athletes will never compete at the Olympics, he cautioned, and “most people at the Olympics don’t win medals.” Besides, he said, that gold medal isn’t so great. Three decades later, his own “is rusted now. There’s not a lot of gold in the gold medal. A jeweler told me it’s worth about $35.”

Snyder’s gold makes history for U.S. team

Proper send-off for ’Melo as U.S. blows out Serbia Durant (five 3-pointers) leads U.S. men to third Olympic gold in a row USA 96, SERBIA 66 Every four years, the U.S. men’s basketball team is expected to go undefeated and win the Olympic tournament. Perfection. Gold. Nothing less. Though the current national roster had some rather unimpressive games in pool play, in the end, the U.S. team accomplished its goal. Team USA crushed Serbia 9666 on Sunday, finishing with an 8-0 record in Rio and winning the program’s third straight gold medal. America has finished

first in six of the last seven Olympic Games. While other superstars said no to going to Rio, Kevin Durant said yes — and the Golden State Warriors’ new star shined brightest on this international stage. Durant’s 30 points against Serbia led all scorers. He drilled 5-of-11 shots from the 3-point arc, pulled down three rebounds, dished four assists and added two steals to cement himself as the alpha dog of the national team. During a postgame interview with NBC Sports, Carmelo Anthony, 32, teared up over his final appearance in the Olympics. “This is the end. This is it for me,” he said. “I committed to this in ’04. I’ve

seen the worst and I’ve seen the best,” he continued, referring to the 2004 Olympics, when the U.S. finished with the bronze. “I’m excited for me but also for the other guys who have never experienced anything like this.” In his final international game, Anthony finished with seven points and seven rebounds. He departs with three gold medals, the most of any player in Olympic men’s basketball history. Center DeMarcus Cousins played one of his better games Sunday, producing 13 points and 15 rebounds off the bench. A day earlier, the U.S. women’s team blew out Spain 101-72 to win its sixth consecutive gold.

Three years ago, Kyle Snyder left Good Counsel High, foregoing his senior season after going 179-0 in three years on the wrestling team. At the age of 17, he moved to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs with the clear aim of making history. Sunday afternoon inside Carioca Arena 2, his vision turned real. In the 97-kilogram final, Snyder, 20, defeated 33-year-old Khetag Goziumov of Azerbaijan 2-1 to become the youngest U.S. wrestler ever to earn gold. “He’s the man,” American teammate Frank Molinaro said. “He’s throwing these guys down. He’s breaking them.” (THE WASHINGTON POST)

Injury creates room to run BRAVES 7, NATIONALS 6

Kelley’s meltdown ends error-filled road game

Matt Jones wears a sling on the bench Friday after suffering a slight separation in his left shoulder.

pick Keith Marshall, undrafted rookie Robert Kelley and secondyear pro Mack Brown. For now, Jones’ injury is an opportunity for that trio competing for the final spot behind Jones and Chris Thompson, who serves as the team’s change of pace and pass-catching back. Of the young rushers, Marshall, who attended Georgia, entered training camp with the most promise, but he has yet to make a significant impact. As Redskins officials evaluated him before the draft, they found his speed attractive. Marshall clocked a 4.31-second 40-yard dash, the fastest time for a running back at the NFL Scouting Combine this year. He was the No. 2 back in the

preseason opener at Atlanta, but finished with -1 yard rushing on five carries. He did better Friday, managing 26 yards on a gamehigh 10 attempts with a long run of 10 yards. Kelley, an undrafted rookie out of Tulane, has flashed potential. The 6-foot, 228-pounder impressed in the preseason opener with 40 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. He received only three carries Friday, finishing with 8 yards, but had a nice block on a blitz pickup that let Colt McCoy complete a 16-yard pass. “All of us here, they know we can run the ball,” Kelley said Friday night. “But when you can step up and pick up blocks, that makes coaches excited.” Brown gained 28 yards on

seven carries late in Atlanta, but he received just two carries for 7 yards against the Jets. Following the preseason opener, Kelley and Marshall flip-flopped spots on the depth chart, with Kelley receiving the first nod after Jones. Gruden praised his play and attributes, but hasn’t given up on Marshall. In other injury news, Gruden said the Redskins expect rookie wideout Josh Doctson to begin running this week. A strained Achilles tendon has kept him on the physically unable to perform list since the start of training camp. Doctson has been restricted to limited calisthenics because of the injury he suffered in May. MIKE JONES (THE WASHINGTON POST)

Morris debuts end-zone ritual in Dallas

An inordinate number of fan favorites have departed Washington in the past year: Brooks Laich left the Caps, Ian Desmond and Jordan Zimmermann left the Nats, and Alfred Morris left the Redskins. One day, fans will get used to the sight of Morris miming a home run swing in a Cowboys uniform. But the touchdown dance looked strange Friday night, when Morris busted out a move he made up to honor some Virginia Little Leaguers in 2012. Jace Peterson’s home run off Shawn Kelley in the 10th inning gave the Braves a 7-6 victory over the Nationals on Sunday in Atlanta. Kelley (1-2) hung his head and walked toward the dugout as soon as Peterson made contact with his seventh homer. Four of Washington’s five errors led to runs for the Braves. Bryce Harper hit a threerun home run to put Washington up 4-0 in the third, but throwing errors helped the Braves answer. Jeff Francoeur scored a tying run for Atlanta when Gordon Beckham hit into an eighthinning double play. (AP)

REDSKINS In Washington’s second preseason game, coach Jay Gruden sat quarterback Kirk Cousins and eight other starters because he wanted to evaluate his backups against the Jets’ starters. The coach played starting running back Matt Jones on Friday, but a first-quarter injury will force Gruden to evaluate his other backs more than he had anticipated or desired. Jones suffered a slight separation of the AC joint in his left shoulder when he landed on it while getting tackled, and then a defender landed on it immediately. He left the game and later exited FedEx Field wearing a sling. As of Sunday morning, Jones was said to be doing OK, but the time frame for his recovery and return remained unknown. However, the team, Jones and those close to him all maintained that they don’t expect the injury to sideline the intended featured back long. He is unlikely to play in Friday’s preseason game against Buffalo at FedEx Field. People familiar with the situation said over the weekend that Washington wouldn’t likely bring in additional help at running back, whether by trade or through free agency. The Redskins remain intrigued by the other young backs on their roster — seventh-round

Sarvas scored his first goal on a penalty kick in the 70th minute and Mullins got his first with a header off a corner kick in the 73rd as D.C. MUST-SEE THIS WEEK

1 ‘Halt and Catch Fire’

Frank Ocean’s ‘Endless’ wait is finally over MUSIC Frank Ocean’s “Blonde” dropped Saturday night on Apple Music. But this is not like most album releases. It’s not every day that an album release is accompanied by pop-up shops in a handful of cities, where you can pick up the 17-track LP and an accompanying publication that includes interviews, short stories and a poem about McDonald’s written by Kanye West. Nor is it usual for an album release to be preceded by a visual album — a 45-minute piece called “Endless” — that features completely different music (see box). And just a few hours before the album’s release, Ocean unveiled a Tyrone Lebon-directed video for lead single “Nikes.” Fans and the industry had been waiting four years for this moment, which came after

numerous rumored and reported release dates passed by without new music. Anticipation about how the avant-garde R&B artist would follow his successful debut had built up considerably. “I had the time of my life making all of this,” Ocean posted to his Tumblr shortly after the album’s release. “Thank you all. Especially those of you who never let me forget I had to finish. Which is basically every one of y’all. Haha. Love you.” Ocean’s first major label album, 2012’s “Channel Orange,” became one of the most critically acclaimed releases that year, earning the new artist six Grammy nominations, including for the top prizes. He took home two. Ocean first came onto the scene as a member of the hiphop collective Odd Future. He also became a pop culture icon of sorts when he revealed that his first love was a man, writing about the experience in an open letter after a journalist noted that Ocean addresses a

The visual album Before “Blonde” was released, Frank Ocean unveiled “Endless” on Thursday night. The 45-minute video features black-and-white footage of Ocean building a staircase in a warehouse. male love interest on “Channel Orange.” Up until this week, “Boys Don’t Cry” was the expected name of

Ocean’s project. That’s the name of the publication, but there are still some discrepancies with names. Apple Music refers to the album as “Blonde,” while some versions of the cover art have it spelled as “Blond.” The list of contributors on Ocean’s project, as reported by Billboard, is varied and includes such musical heavyweights as West, Beyonce, David Bowie, Brian Eno, The Beatles, Rick Rubin, Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000, Pharrell Williams and Elliott Smith (spelled “Elliot Smith” in the liner notes). By Sunday morning, “Blonde” had topped Apple Music charts.

Counterfeit drugs found at Prince’s estate

Some of the pills taken from Prince’s estate in Paisley Park after his death were counterfeit drugs that contained fentanyl — a synthetic opioid 50 times more powerful than heroin, an official close to the investigation said Sunday. One pill with a “Watson 385” stamp tested positive for fentanyl, lidocaine and another drug. Officials found nearly two dozen similar pills. Autopsy results released in June show Prince died of an accidental fentanyl overdose. (AP)

Hoop fever dreams: ‘Survivor’s Remorse’ is a sharp, offbeat sitcom Ryan Lochte isn’t the only athlete to tell a fib and get outed by video. Basketball player Cam Calloway was punched in the eye by his sister, whose bling ring caused major damage. That wasn’t a good story for his image, so Cam cooked up a different explanation: He slipped on a Coke spill on his marble floor and “landed on my eye.” Then his butler leaked footage of the incident to the media, and humiliation ensued. Unlike Lochte, Cam is not a real-life liar. He’s a character on the very funny sitcom “Survivor’s Remorse,” which started

its third season last month on Starz (10 p.m., Sundays). The show centers on Cam (Jessie Usher), whose milliondollar contract enabled him to leave the projects of Boston and buy a mansion for himself and his family in Atlanta, where he plays ball. That makes him a survivor. And along with success comes the inevitable guilt. The show deftly blends social commentary and sharp (even far-out) humor. In a recent episode, Cam’s manager, Missy, hires a dark-skinned model for a photo shoot to take a stand for women of color who are often “invisible” in magazines. The model quits and Missy is furious to see that the replacement is light-skinned. Missy fires the

new model, who retorts: “Can’t you see that we’re in the same boat? If the boat sinks, you think because I’m light-skinned I don’t drown?” That same episode explored hookup fantasies with a sci-fi twist. Cam’s mom is frustrated that the love of her life, a Chinese businessman, is half a world away in Shanghai. He sent her a talking robotic version of himself, but she’s not having it: “Intimacy is difficult enough for me without the batteries.” NBA superstar LeBron James thought up the freewheeling series with his business partner, Maverick Carter, and serves as executive producer. He’s clearly aiming to rule the media world as well as the court. His next show, “Cleveland Hustles,” a reality series about four entrepreneurs trying to make their dreams come true while revitalizing a neighborhood, premieres on CNBC on Wednesday. BOX OFFICE HAUL

The box office take of “Suicide Squad” last weekend, its third straight week at No. 1. “Sausage Party” came in at No. 2, with $15.3 million in its second weekend. A trio of debuts rounded out the top five: “War Dogs” ($14.3 million), “Kubo and the Two Strings” ($12.6 million) and “Ben-Hur” ($11.4 million). “Al Roker was keeping it real on NBC. Much respect for calling out that entitlement.” @RUJABES approves of the NBC weatherman’s reaction on the “Today” show Friday to the news that U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte lied about being robbed in Rio. “He lied to you. He lied to Matt Lauer. He lied to his mom. He left his teammates hanging while he skedaddled,” Roker said to co-host Billy Bush, who tried to downplay what happened, saying Lochte had “embellished” his account of the incident.

“[It’s a] big middle finger to her doubters. ... It may also be a moment of vicarious vindication for survivors of domestic violence.” CHRISTINA CAUTERUCCI, at slate.com, on Amber Heard’s

announcement that she will donate her entire $7 million divorce settlement with Johnny Depp to the American Civil Liberties Union and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Since she first came forward with abuse allegations against Depp, the actress has fought accusations that she fabricated the abuse in order to get his money.

“Racial and #Ethnic Bias hiding as a patriotic stance to ‘keep illegal immigrants out’ should always be denounced.” @PENANG1970 on a patron who left no tip on a $26 check at a restaurant in Harrisonburg, Va., last week, with a note saying, “We only tip citizens.” The customer’s server, Sadie Elledge, 18, was born in America and is of Honduran and Mexican descent. Her grandfather, who is white, posted a Facebook photo of the receipt, which quickly went viral.

“#TragicallyHip is teaching us all about life and death. Right now. … My heart is full.” @ALICIAATOBIN reacts to the final concert by Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip, held Saturday at the Rogers K-Rock Centre in Kingston, Ontario. Lead singer Gord Downie, 52, who was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in December, told his fans to “have a nice life.” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the farewell concert, which was broadcast live. Formed in 1984, the band is a fixture of Canada’s music scene.

Bennett’s heart not only thing he left in San Francisco Hundreds watched Friday as an 8-foot-tall bronze statue of Tony Bennett, 90, was unveiled outside the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, where he first sang “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” in 1961. “I can’t get over what just happened,” Bennett said. “That’s the most beautiful statue I have ever seen. It will live in my heart forever. Thank you for being so wonderful to me.” (AP)

A group of family and friends surprised “Bachelorette” stars JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers with an engagement party Saturday, the couple revealed on Instagram. “My heart is so full!” Fletcher captioned her post. “We are so incredibly blessed.” Just before the party, Fletcher posted a photo of the couple holding hands with the caption, “The best thing to hold onto in life is each other ... & tacos.” The party came on the heels of a series of new Instagram posts by Rodgers’ ex-girlfriend, Brittany Farrar, who claimed she could prove that Rodgers cheated on Farrar when they were dating. Farrar has since deleted the posts. (EXPRESS)

UNIONS

Reception followed by lengthy panel discussion on ‘The Walking Dead’ “Talking Dead” and “@Midnight” host Chris Hardwick married actress Lydia Hearst on Saturday in Pasadena, Calif., People reported. Hearst’s gown was custom-made by Christian Siriano; Hardwick wore a custom Prada suit. As a nod to the couple’s love of “Doctor Who,” the floral arrangements included Tardis blue hydrangeas. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton performed a surprise duet during Sefani’s headlining set at the Apollo in the Hamptons gala on Saturday, Page Six reports. “The Voice” judges, who are a couple, sang “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” which they debuted on the NBC show in May. Shelton’s appearance was so last-minute that he reportedly had to borrow a guitar from Jon Bon Jovi, who was in the crowd. (EXPRESS)
